Re: Ride to the Rann - A Vagabond's tale

@jomson13

Loved the write up. Looks like you and your friend had a great time.

I am from Pune too and I plan to ride solo from Pune to Delhi and back. Really want to do the Rann of Kutch either on my way or on the way back.

Do share some tips which would be really helpful for me.

I would be riding a Suzuki Inazuma.

PS - Loved the Dhabeli pic.

I would recommend that you do it on the way to Delhi. Couple of reasons:
1. Tiredness and fatigue sets in towards the end of the journey
2. It will already be quite hot in Gujarat, doesn't make sense to postpone it further.

I would recommend that you plan to visit the Rann close to the full moon - that way you can enjoy the view of the Rann under the moonlight.
The Rann itself should be much more dry than when I visited it - that should also add to your visual experience.

The resort that we stayed at was away from the Rann, its a bit cheaper than the ones that are bang in the middle of it.

About the dabeli - you will pass thru Bhuj on your way to the Rann. Do stop by at Bin Hareef, its worth it.

Thanks so much for the information.

I got some work in Delhi and would be there for a month or two or so. Hence planned going on the bike. Kutch is always on my bucket list. Done Tawang and the silk route till China and then Kashmir from Leh. Driven quite a bit. Just that want to explore the west a little now. June would be mix kind of weather which i suppose would include major heat and pre monsoon showers.

Dam confused!
