Rather quite late in the day
, nevertheless, here are some pics taken with my erstwhile trustworthy O2 atom.
This was an interesting trip for all of us. The focal point, as obvious from the pics, was the brilliant white CRV. It carried the five of us and our substantial luggage in utmost comfort.
At the start of the trip itself, I was appointed as the resident navigator (having made umpteen trips to Nainital before). I wasn't complaining though because the front passenger seat with its armrest and perched view of the road and the surroundings was just perfect for me.
Psytrance, chill and down-tempo genres were preferred by all. Knowledgeable ones will know in what preference the genres were played throughout the days and nights
.
The initial plan was to stay put in Nainital for 4-5 days and return to Delhi. This plan was squashed once we reached Nainital though. Jama Masjid on a friday is less crowded than what we experienced in Nainital. We managed to find a hotel for the night and then the Party was ON!!!
The hotel in Nainital was quite cheesy or
kitschy and was dropped like a hot potato the next day.
It was decided unanimously that it is best we all head out of Nainital towards someplace serene and calm (naturally expected eh?). Ramgarh, some 25km's from Nainital was decided upon and that turned out to be THE BEST decision of our entire trip. I don't seem to recall the name of the Hotel (eventhough there are only 2-3 hotels there) but if one wishes to find out it is pretty simple. It is the only hotel in Ramgarh with a Snooker table (break dancing on the floor smiley here!!!).
Initially we approached the hotels in Ramgarh a bit cautiously but were extremely relieved to find this little gem. We booked the two humongous rooms on the top floor and were given an even more humongous terrace to our discretion. To be frank, the Snooker table and the view from the terrace sealed the deal for us.
We didn't bother going back to Nainital after this. Instead we randomly headed out to Sattal and all other Tal's on random days. Other than that, it was just party time with our 2.1 creative boom box, our i-pods, the scrumptious food made to order, some fine scotch, some cheap whisky and other unmentionables from the higher echelons of Himalayas (winkey smiley here!!)
On our way back to Delhi, we decided to visit the Corbett area. Again, the hotel name is forgotten but a nice (a bit pricey though) experience was had by us all.
Forgive me for this long
ish post and for posting it after nearly a year. My next trip to the hills is planned this year end and will be better documented and expressed here.
Cheers
