Chikkamagaluru in a Jeep Compass

It was a quick plan done for a long weekend, Since it was the beginning of the monsoon, the favorite pick was the Western Ghats, Plan was to drive through a scenic route and cover the places on day1 and stay in the Isolated Home-stay on day 2.

Route : Bangalore-> Tumkur -> Sira -> Kadur -> Homestay near Arasinaguppe

The route from Kadur to Homestay is scenic, most of the patch was good except few places where it was a very narrow road after Kadur. The alternate route is through Hassan, this is faster but not scenic as the other, so choose this as a return route.

Visited this place on day 3, it's nearby Kipstay Homestay.

Day1:

Few pics taken from Homestay. It faces a hill covered with clouds most of the time, I ventured to fly a drone close to the hill and was lucky enough to navigate it back

After evening snacks and coffee, visited the Hirekolale lake, which is about 15km from Homestay. Drive to this place is covered with dense trees, best is to visit late evening.

Hirekolale lake.

We planned for a nearby place for the next morning, which gives a good view of Hill facing the Homestay, it is a less known place and except us, no one was there it was a good place for kids to play.

Baba Budangiri Hills:

Driving to the top of the hill is fun though curvy roads with beautiful views, safe enough except a few places where barricades are missing on the edge. There are many viewpoints on the way, mostly crowded except for the last one, you can even take the Alto 800 to the top except for the last few km where a vehicle with good ground clearance is required.

On Day 2 we stayed in Kipstay Coffea cove homestay, which is in an isolated place, according to the caretaker some part of it was constructed around 100 years back. The view from the homestay is nice and it was drizzling most of the time.

Oh fantastic trip, nice and quick travelogue! Felt nostalgic, been there in my Indica long long back when I was staying in Bangalore! Kids definitely had an awesome time.

Thanks for sharing such lovely pics, sharan_si. Looks like the kids had a nice time too. I was contemplating taking my 4-year-old on a road trip. Your travelogue has given me some ideas now.

Nice travelogue. The red beauty looks great amongst a sea of green. The view point drone video seems to end abruptly. Overall nice shots there.

Such breathtaking places and such wonderfully captured images! India is a goldmine of hidden jewels and these pics of yours reveal exactly the same. Drone shots are awesome. The red Compass looks stunning with the green background.
