Re: Little Rann of Kutch: Photolog

Stunning pictures and a great variety of birds too! Your sunset pictures with the birds and the wild ass are amazing!

For someone who's fond of bird photography, how would you recommend they do this (solo) trip ? Please share more details like the hotels, places of stay, how many 'safari' sessions can one have at the LRK and does all of this come included in the cost of stay or will be be charged as 'per session' basis? Of course - what lens did you carry? Will a 200-500 suffice ? How was the weather?

Please share more details about the arragments once you reached Ahmedabad... Im keen on trying this myself.

There are quite a few resorts who cater to wildlife photographers. They will arrange all permits, guide, driver etc. Just speak to them and book directly instead of booking online. Some resorts you can try are Desert Coursers, Bhavna Resorts, Rann Riders etc. End of the day, it depends on your budget.

Two nights are enough for a decent haul of images. You can squeeze two morning sessions and two afternoon sessions in that time frame.

For a full frame camera, it is ideal to have a focal length of at least 500mm. So 200-500 is good enough.

Hopefully this answers your doubts.

Regarding weather, please google before you plan your trip.

Re: Little Rann of Kutch: Photolog

These are some of the amazing shots. Looks like you had a great fun.

I visited Rann of Kutch in 2016, which is one of our stop from the 2 week long Gujrat journey. My uncle was the then conservation officer and warden in forest department that time. I had a great time in almost all the parks in Gujrat- Thol, Rann, Nalsarovar, Jamnagar, Gir and Velavadar. Truly an amazing place for mammal and bird photography.

Not to hijack your thread but could not resist to post few pic for memory revival.

Lovely pics. Goes to show that nature is still ahead of us, no matter how incredible the supercars and jets we make.
Hope we are able to preserve such beautiful places in the future against the onslaught of modernization.

Robi, great photographs , as always. Your travelogues are a treat.
I am amazed at the diversity of the fauna in such an arid place. Nature is truly great.
Thanks for the lovely pictures.

Great photos. Thanks for sharing. The flamingos reminded me about the Bhigwan trip we had couple of years ago.
What model prime lens have you used?

Re: Little Rann of Kutch: Photolog

Very nice images! On our last visit 2 years ago we spotted a few flamingoes and some cranes but there were not many migratory birds at that time.

If you have not already visited Thol bird sanctuary then you can put that in your list next time if you like bird photography. Which lens btw, and any TC used with it? Thanks.
