Nothing seems to stop you eh ? Nice pics there, the ever inviting Maravanthe beach. Wish I could live and work off there. How is the stretch between Udupi and Kundapur now ?

Stop !

Hi Ravi, please stop posting such nice travelogues I have spent around 1.5 hours today going through this entire chain..

By the way, we were planning to go out this weekend and going through your log made me realize that there are so many more places closeby that need to be explored!

I have taken quite a few pointers from your log + one of @akroy's logs to plan a trip for this weekend! Thanks guys.

By the way, I was thinking, wouldn't it be a good idea to put each of your trip into a seperate thread ? Since it will show up easily on the search that way... and each log will be comprehensive on its own. It will be easier for others to just pick-up one trip and retrace it...

Nice travelogue and great pics.

I visited Udupi-Manipal-Shringeri circuit in 1998. But till I read this travelogue I did not realize that there are so many picturesque temples in that area.

Thanks for the correction and thank you everyone for the feedback.

@hotstuff: I agree your suggestion, by the way its good that you made list of places and now those words will act as key words for searching.

Hi Abhi, I and my wife drove only 30km around Sirsi in forest during this trip, rest all driver enjoyed cruising in Alto Bangalore - Ankola then to Sirsi car returned 19.7kmpl with 10% AC on (shell normal) while from Sirsi to Bangalore (BP speed sirsi) returned 17.6kmpl with 5% AC on and it includes 30km driving I and my wife did in forest.

Hi JMaruru, 7.35/- for scorpio with AC on. I am not sure about if its costly but I know people come for Tavera taxy around 5.5/- without AC. I didn't bargain as 5000/- was my budget.

Ravi.

Kabini River Lodge Weekend TRIP

This is all about last week end trip we had to kabini river lodge.

Details about this Resort: Jungle Lodges & Resorts Eco Holidays It deserves rated as one of the best 5 eco/jungle resort. Lot of animal/bird spottings with 5 star quality.

Vehicle: Alto LXI, Fuel economy 19.6kmpl with 100% AC on with blower level set to 1 most of the times although level 2 would give beter cooling effect. Shell normal is fuel.

440km distance covered out of which 40km bad roads with 1st and 2nd gear.

Route: Bangalore - Mysore - H D Kote - Kabini river lodge (also known as kharapur jungle lodge) and back in same route.

Spotted tiger, deers, monkeys, lot of birds, wild ghor, squeral, peakocks, elephants and much more. (SORRY FOR TYPO if any)

I had booked this well known resort well in advance from their website online.

28th Feb. 2009 we started at 6:45AM from our home and topped up Shell Normal Petrol and first stop is for breakfast in Kamat Lokaruchi. bit heavy traffic as it is week end and can clearly notice most of vehicles are tourists (either private or yellow board) and surprised to see 2 or 3 batches reached same resort by the time we reached.

Crossed Mysore around 10:30AM and we had ample time so decided to visit Kabini reservoir although there is no entry inside. Clicked some photos around the place and then drove towards Kibini resort. We checked into our cottage around 12:30PM.

Next Part of Kabini River Lodge

Day1 Jeep Safari: Its TATA 207 modified mini 9 seator which took us for safari. Even main road is very bad around the palce but once we enter forest we will forget everything by seeing so many animals and birds, we are impressed. this forest is mixture of bandipur, wayanad, nagarhole forest range so one can spot lot of things and can keep roaming forever.
Our guide is very talented and can hear every movement there and has shown excellatn patience as well. Our vehicle had 3 kids so imagine controlling and making them keep quiet is managed very easily because of the way guide smoothly handled every one. Thats good show and we are excited to spot tiger over 20 minutes river side and walking in front of us.

Pictures from Jeep and Boat Safari. Because of lack of time I am loading short listed pictures without much explanation. Sorry about it.
