The Beach

A long weekend was on my way (sat and sun)... And ofcourse this meant I would be riding somewhere, to some fogged up cold hills on sunday alone... After somehow spending the whole of Saturday trying to bring my lappy back to life, I decided to venture out into a new place the next day, ie, yesterday, Sunday...

After stuffing myself with a healthy breakfast, I head out towards Panvel via the Palm beach road. With no particular destination in mind, at Panvel, I took a right and joined the Mumbai-Goa highway.

Had heard a lot about this highway.. Smooth tarmac, great views

Little hills made sure I was a happy rider

One of my fav SUVs available in India : The mammoth Audi Q7

After Pen, left the highway and a took a straight towards Alibaug. The inital few kms are bad, with lot of rough patches, but soon the roads turns smooth and hills start

I hit Alibaug around 65kms from my place. Rode thru the city to the beach but was disappointed a lot : the usual tourist and no place to take my Bike right upto the beach. Turned around and headed towards Kashid, another 35-40kms away. But around 5kms from Alibaug, I noticed a lil road going towards the sea. Took this, and within a km, I could see the sea in front of my eyes. GREAT. And hardly any tourist. AWESOME.

The beach

The waves were quite high and I didnt want them to swallow my bike. Hence parked it at a safe distance

I have made it a point to ride to atleast one good place every month. Last month it was Mumbai-Lonavala-Amby Valley-Mumbai and this month it was Mumbai-Alibaug-this beach-Mumbai.. Next month?

Nice pics. Looks like you had a great ride and a great time to go with it. Doesn't it get boring all by yourself?

Thought so, but the bike looks a bit different with the paint shade and all. I was a biker a few years ago and still bike sometimes ( Pulsar) and this id stuck to me since then. Now more of a mocar

while i was based in pune some months back, i always wanted to visit this place.
for pune guys, take the expressway till khopoli. Get off the expressway and drive to Pen (28kms). Leave the mumbai-goa highway and ask for directions to alibaug (another 25-26kms). But i hated the alibaug beach. Drive towards kashid/malad and around 5-6kms from Alibaug, u will see a little road going straight towards the sea side. take this. this road leads to the place shown in the pics

Nice trip there.. Even I was planning a trip from Pune to Kashid.

OT: Why is the beach sand dark? Is it like this all along the coastline?
