Re: Bangalore >Yelagiri>Bangalore...DRIVE

Hi,
Went for a drive(from Bangalore) to yelagiri. Google Maps helped to find the route. The roads are excellent, and the drive was enjoyable. Nothing much to see though. Stayed in Zeenat Taj Resort. had some problems finding the resort as you will not find many signboards leading to this resort. We finally enquired with the auto drivers to find the place. The resort was full. So its better to book it in advance. Make sure that if you dont like the room , you ask for a new one . Best thing about the resort is that you can park your car near your cottage .
Nothing much to see around though. We went to the lake(you will find lot of dogs here). Saw the musical fountain and the went to the nature park in the evening.
On our way back, went to Jalagambarai falls, about 35 kms from yelagiri, on the way back to bangalore.

Re: Bangalore >Yelagiri>Bangalore...DRIVE

We went to Yelagiri yesterday (the Eid al-Fitr weekend). It was a 1 day trip from Bangalore. We set out from Bangalore at about 10.00 AM, stopped en route at Shoolagiri for a bite, and reached Yelagiri at 1.30 PM.

Yelagiri was as crowded as Ooty would be at the peak of the tourist season. The crowd was so huge that it was quite a nuisance. However, our main intention was a nice long drive and an escape from Bangalore.

After lunch at Sterling Resorts, we visited the lake and the nature park. We did not spend more than half an hour at each. Both places were quite crowded. It seemed like everyone from the neighboring villages and towns had come up for an afternoon out at Yelagiri. There were a few KA cars too.

The weather was cloudy and cool all through the trip. We started back from Yelagiri a little after 4.00 PM and were home before 7.30 PM.

I would like to have a visit, may be next weekend. Could you please provide some update on the road conditions and what to be seen and taken care? Few photos will be a plus

Thanks

Re: Bangalore >Yelagiri>Bangalore...DRIVE

A quick update from my recent trip to Yelagiri:

Route to/ from: Bangalore - Hosur - Krishnagiri - Vaniyambadi - Ponniyeri - Yelagiri - ... - Bangalore

Excellent roads (except in and around Hosur where work is in progress and traffic can pose challenges).
As already mentioned in other posts, you need to take the service lane towards Vaniyambadi town (look for the sign board) which comes after the first bridge after passing Vaniyambadi toll gate (the first one on NH46 after Krishnagiri).
Yelagiri ghat section has excellent tarmac but is not too wide. Traffic is not much and hence should not pose major hassles.
We left at 5:15 PM from Lavalle road and had to slog through peak traffic till BETL at Bommanahalli. Reached Yelagiri only by 9 PM. We left Yelagiri at 9:45 AM on return and reached home (Bannerghatta road) by 1.
Stay was at Sterling resorts. Great hospitality and decent food.
