It was thanksgiving (November 28, 2024) morning and we had some guests coming over for dinner and since we had already prepped the evening we weren't worried about the nitty gritties.

It was 8:00am in the morning and as I lay in the bed casually opened the WSDOT (Washington State Department of Transportation) app and check the weather in my favorite areas. I normally have the habit of checking this app atleast a couple of time s a week so I get to know what's the weather situation around Greater Seattle.

When I saw this picture, it kicked me out of my sleep and my eyes opened wide and since it's just a stone's throw away from home, we decided to drive up to the mountains and play in the snow (Do I sound like a kid?...lol....Well, who wants to grow up) for sometime before heading back home for the evening party.

Stevens Pass is about 60 miles or a little over an hour from home and is one of the many popular skiing destinations in Washington. There was not much snow on the way but, at the Pass it was decent amount. I mean, this is just the beginning of winter and real snowfall will be late December to February.

We left home around 11:30am and I decided to take the back roads for about 20 miles before joining the highway (not, a freeway) and at 11:30am, it was so foggy that visibility was difficult but, I enjoy such weather for a drive. We kept a fast clip in the backroads as you can see from the pictures (HUD Display)

Then when we joined the highway, the weather because spectacular as sun was up and temparature was a pleasant 3-4 centigrade.

A quick pit stop for coffee break in between at my favorite place where the coffee shop has a mountain face right in the back of their coffee store. We then proceeded towards Stevens Pass at a super fast clip. Reached Stevens Pass little before 1:00pm and enjoyed a home made lunch in the snow.

Spent sometime walking around in the snow and just enjoying the gorgeous scenery. Then something hit me, I forgot to carry my drone. Darn, I need to come back again just for some drone shots.

We decided to head back around 3:00pm and reached home just after 4:00pm to end a super quick trip to the spectacular Stevens Pass.

BMW handles like a charm on these back-roads. This is the reason I hardly use the freeways.

Entire stretch more or less is windy which enables the BMW to come into its own.







Just an hour's drive from home. Blissful place.



















December to February, Stevens Pass encounters snow blizzards and crazy amount of snowfall. Looking forward to coming back during a crazy snowfall day.

Drove in the snow a bit and BMW feels right at home. One of the best AWD systems I drove. Never a scary moment, never it slips or slides unless I switch of the DSC off.

A dirty looking car has its own charm, I reckon. But, I am a fan of spotless looking cars.













This is where the Skiing happens and it has nice place to stay as well. We should plan an overnight trip here. Just that these places are ridiculously expensive and gets booked out many months in advance.

As some one who lives near the southern tip of India,I am very fascinated by snowy roads like these. Nice pictures and videos of a beautiful route.
