I was happened to be around Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary during the same time and looking at your photos, I realized that we had stopped at the same place for lunch on the way back to Bangalore.

Oh Wow! Amazing coincidence! Quote:
Sharing a pic of the two mighty 4x4s of your friends that I had spotted (my GV was parked in between) along with few images from my drive (hope you won't mind the mini hi-jack with my posts);

Quick question though: how’s the petrol Thar holding up after such extensive use? Any “hmm, maybe I should’ve…” thoughts creeping in post this trip? Or is it still a grin-machine through and through?

Thar is doing great, and I absolutely love it as described in my ownership thread through stories of multiple road trips and off-road experiences too. No, absolutely no second thoughts. Diesel Thar was not even remotely on my mind. My BMW 320d is my first and last diesel car. I am a petrolhead and my Thar was always going to be a petrol Thar. Quote:
Would love to hear your post-trip reflections on the Thar’s performance, especially compared to the diesels in the group.

Some of these comments are mentioned in my ownership thread. Again, I never bothered to compare it with diesels because I love petrol Thar and there was never a comparative decision or debate in my head. However, as I mentioned earlier, in real-world scenarios, I think both petrol and diesel Thars are almost identically capable. If at all, petrol Thar has more power, more torque, and also more quieter and smoother than diesel Thars.
Of course, this comes at a cost. The fuel efficiency and range of petrol Thar are terrible. So that is something I have to live with. But I love petrol Thar and there are no second thoughts about it at all. |
