YetiBlog® - 24th December 2007

We make a small detour and visit the Haupt(main)bahn(train)hof(stop).

Near the entrance is a little model train set. Well it's not little.

It's beautiful and decorated and it's full of many people. They are having a Christmas mass at the station, with a choir and live band. It's beautiful! This is real Christmas.

We walk up to one of the platforms (Gleis) and I take some more photos

We step out for some coffee and I take some more pictures from the outside.

HEY! Nice speakers!

Going back inside

We go up to a Gleis with a parked train

And then on the way out near the car park

Those pictures were for NC. The last one is for Rudra.

Superb pics,sam!
Brings back memories of my 1st trip to Germany in 1997. The day we landed in the Black forest area,it was -6 deg C,and what a night it was strolling back to our hotel room after dinner! Bone chilling! I've taken -30 deg C,but the winter in Germany felt way more severe!

Waiting for more pics..

YetiBlog® - 24th December 2007

We've left the supermarket. Bought a lot of stuff. We will be living in the pampa. (This is a german colloquial for absolute desolate rural areas - in the pampa) and there will not be much around.

We have rented a cottage (a ferienhaus: Ferien=holiday, haus=house) and it is supposed to be equipped to cook too. We've decided to make ourselves a little christmas dinner. I will be cooking Thai green curry and TheOne® will make the rice and dessert. We buy all of that and all the breakfast stuff, meat, cheese, eggs, bread, juices.

We're going to a place nobody has heard of. Our only friend is the harman/kardon guide+play navigation GPS system that keeps talking to us till I shut him up. That thing is addictive. If you are used to it, you cannot go anywhere without it.

We're on our way to a little village in the Franconian swiss area called Kleingesee. It is in the Gossweinstein district. The road is beautiful and goes on for hours. Few people, fewer cars.

We stop at a small clearing for a smoke break. 4 men are having a small picnic in this area, and their cars are parked here. We take a short walk in the woods and I take a few pictures.

And then we walk to the lake. Gorgeous.

And then near the frozen lake I see it again. Especially for you Hydrashok.

It gets dark by 5pm. So much for daylight saving time lol. Soon we are in Gossweinstein.

Sam,

I was @ Frankfurt airport on 26th Dec and there was none of that decoration ! They took it down in a matter of few hours ? and frankly, I was quite disappointed w/ Frankfurt airport; it looks old and the most trouble some part is that there aren't many plug points to charge laptop ! And I had to spend 7 long arduous hours at the airport, doesn't help that Lufthansa being themselves decided to reach Frankfurt before time ! I was thoroughly bored and disappointed with this airport.

Hello RJK. Are you sure you were at Frankfurt? I left FRA on the 3rd of January and all of this was still there, lol.
