If you want to go to Kashid directly, You can go from Khopoli to Pali then to Roha and then Kashid as well.
Roads are excellent till NH17 if you take the khopoli - pali route.
Not sure about khopoli pen stretch.
Thanx MX6 for quick replay...

@kalinga,

Alibaugh is hyped place. the beach is dirty.
Kashid has best beach but very less to offer on accommodation front.
Couple of resorts with very high rates without any justification in terms of value.

Dive agar is better option in all terms.
Lot more to offer on stay front with best and safest beach.
In terms of sights, dive agar has much to offer e.g. diveagar beach, golden ganesh temple, janjira fort, beach drive, coastal drive from dive agar to shrivardhan, harihareshwar.

If Kashid or Alibaugh is the place in mind, then, better stay at Kashid.

Like AP says Alibagh is a very poor beach/location overall. Totally agree on the Kashid thing also, excellent beach but getting acco close by (and good food) is a problem. Still if you want less crowded and good beach go for Kashid.

Diveagar = best veggie food + plenty of acco options for all budgets + decent beach (although many homestays are far away from the beach)

I am now bored of Raigad district though, so prefer beaches in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg (too far unfortunately) districts

Thanx ASHISHPALLOD..

Still i am very confused between Dive agar , Kashid.

I am planning for 2 days outing. So i think Dive agar will be good.
Kindly suggest the route from pune and accomodation in that place (If you have).

kashid beach: prakruti resorts, kashid beach resort.

diveagar: mtdc exotica[ privatized, Google for booking], other options are there but this is the first place on the list of recommendation.

MTDC exotica is 2500 per night! I have their brochure with contact details in my car. Will send you later tonight.
Harihareshwar is cheaper at 1100 bucks for a/c room.
Diveagar is terrific beach. It's 1 hour drive from Harihareshwar (the view is so good that one doesn't feel like hurrying up).
So you decide where you want to stay and what you want to do!

Thats what happens after privatization.
Exotica was under MTDC earlier with normal rates.
Mtdc has properties at best possible locations and Exotica is cashing on that goodwill.

And to add, if you go to Harihareshwar, there's a new attraction apart from the beach and temple.
The famous place where MX6 slipped and fell!

Re: Pune -Diveagar

Which road is the easiest to drive (for a novice driver on highways)?
We are starting from Pune and our destination is Diveagar.

Re: Pune -Diveagar

If you are not comfortable driving in ghats, you can go up to Khopoli and then drive to Mangaon from there. Mangaon - Dive agar is the same route - it is a state highway. this is quite a boring route though, it is best that you drive via Paud/ Mulshi/ Tamhini ghat/ Mangaon/ Dive Agar
IMHO, the drive from DiveAgar to Shrivardhan (at least, if not upto Harihareshwar) is fantastic, do give it a try.

Re: Pune -Diveagar

Just came back from Diveagar.
The route was the usual one: Paud/ Mulshi/ Tamhini ghat/ Mangaon/ Dive Agar

The roads are overall average - some stretches are very good, others are bad. Took 5 hours to reach and 4.5 hours to come back.
This was my first real ghat drive and I enjoyed it.

Pappu pass ho gaya!!!

5 hr to reach and 4.5 hr to come back,
it means driving up the ghat is faster than going down, is it so?

Multiple factors:
We stopped at several places to ask for directions.
Secondly, the route was unknown to me, so was over-cautious.
Thirdly, last part of the journey was after sun down. I am not very comfortable driving in the night.

Hence reaching the destination was more challenging.

As an aside, I was glad to observe mileage of around 16.5 kmpl on my Zen with four people + luggage.
