Pretty good looking roads,I must say. Like the shoulders being well marked, and with sufficient space for cars/bikes to stop.

I may not have too many years experience, and it does make a difference that I live five minutes away from the ECR, but I cannot imagine why anyone would take any other route from Chennai to Pondy.

There must be a good reason, though, as one of the nice things about the ECR route is that there is very little heavy traffic

2 lane road as benchmark . Ideal would be 6 lane. Atleast it must be 4 lane. This might be a good stretch. But not a benchmark by any stretch of imagination.
Bigger is better. This is a very "american" attitude.

I love the ECR for its curves.
It has almost always been the road for weekend superbikers and sportscar groups in Chennai.
Nothing like attacking smooth twisty corners.

Must be careful though, some parts of ECR have a bad design and a chunk of the drivers on this route are drunk.

I think alcohol and the ECR is a combination that claims lives all to regularly.

(12,000 road deaths in TN last year by the way. Horrific.)

As the ECR leads to Pondicherry(Puducherry) why not i add pics from my most recent trip...a bird's eye view for you...mainly taken in the 'French Quarter' area and the Promenade...As for the 'Indian Quarter'..It is very Indian...still, Pondicherry as a whole is a very nice place to visit...a six pack of Fosters can be had for Rs.180.00...No kidding!...Does anyone need a bigger incentive?..
