Oops!
Single answer.
I think clues given for options are enough to identify the places for mumbai and pune bhpians. For others, it may be little difficult.
OK, i will add some more clues for each options and of entire western Maharashtra with Konkan area.

Monsoon masti: watch it LIVE and partake in the quiz-map.jpg

Option 1:

This foggy place is in Maharashtra along the way which is taken by Hyderabad bhpians to go to Goa rather than Belgaum- Londa road due to bad road condition. Recently someone has mentioned in his travelogue that this place has fog in the noon also.

Option 2:

I think this place is very easy to identify. do you remember the song
" Aati kya ***"
" Kya karu aake mai ***"
" Ghumenge, firenge, nachege, gayenge, icecream khaynge aur kya"

Option 3:

There is separate thread with pic about this ghat right now in travelogue section written by Mumbai man.

Option 4:

This is little bit difficult to identify.
This area is trekkers paradise.
Name of dam is Wilson dam constructed on PRAVARA river.
It is in Ahemadnagar district.

Now, which is destination chosen by us?
You know which is wettest place after cherapunji.

OK, i have made it very simple now.

I am not posting new question today unless i get some answers.
I hope, someone will get it correctly.
Yhat someone may be you.
Try it.
Good luck.

Only 4 option is worth going to.

Do you want to stop and enjoy rains on ghat roads or expressway?

Ashish, I googled for sometime and found following places for you

Option 1: Amboli Hill Station - Wettest place in Maharashtra
Option 2: Khandala - If you want to sing that song
Option 3: Tamhini - for rain dance in highway
Option 4: Bhandardara - for treking and old dam.

But my suggestion would be Amboli Hill Station which is wettest place in Maharashtra so that you can be wet outside as well as wet inside cheers:

I give full marks to Bangalore bhpians.

congratulations Bombatt for your correct answers and your 50th post made you bhpian.

option 3 is Malshej ghat and not Tamhini. I was expecting this confusion on first day of posting this question. At that time of my posting, only malshejghat thread was on forum. Immediately after my posting, tamhini ghat thread was on forum. On next day, adding some more clues, i have mentioned travelogue written by mumbai man.
still,
i will give you full marks.
You have correctly identified our choice.

yes, it is AMBOLI.

i am experimenting this travelogue with quiz. though answers posted are very less, i will continue this quiz. i hope, i am making some bhpians to think and not only to read.

All four places have their own charm. They all have different spots/sites for all taste.
At malshej ghat,on Saturday and Sunday, mostly Mumbai people literally dance, drench under waterfall, drink and do whatever they feel that it is fun.

Now, as you guessed it correctly, i am from BARAMATI going to trip at AMBOLI on 9th July 2008. We have already planned the route, lunch halt, breakfast halt, brands of booze, dinner , spots to be seen and of course the resort.,

We will stop at major city for lunch. This city is famous for its spicy lunch/food. This city is famous for its lake. One type of leather chappal is named after this city.
There is myth that Lord Vishnu's wife fought with her husband and came to this city in anger. she is still at this city. Temple of that goddess is famous with all maharashtrians and south Indians.

which is this city?

what is the name of goddess?

Oh how much I miss Kolhapuri Chicken! I think the goddess is Ambabai isnt it?

OT: Did you know that Kolhapur, along with Ludhiana and Mumbai, has amongst the highest number of Mercedes' in the country. Apparently their love for big cars started out when, in the pre-independence days the Maharaja of Kolhapur got himself a Maybach, one which is still taken out every year during the Dusshera procession.

I think Bangalore bhpians know much about Maharashtra.
Congrats Deepak for your both correct answers.
Thanks Phrozenfire for your additional info.

Kolhapur people are always willing to experiment in the field of agri and industry. They get awards for their risk taking and hence more Mercs in that city. Mahalakshmi temple is famous and pilgrims come here from all over India. Remember, Mahalakshmi is goddess of wealth. Those who want more wealth, head to Kolhapur. Just kidding.
Kolhapuri chappals are very attractive in looks. Actually, these chappals are made at Sankeshwar in Karnataka near Kolhapur. Kolhapuri spicy breakfast of missal pav is yummy.

Two days are left to start. Every one from group is eager to go on trip.
Yesterday's newspaper has pic of Amboli showing waterfalls. We are going there at right time.

Amboli is in Sindhudurg district. Basically, Amboli is politically in Konkan region but geographically, it is in western Maharashtra. People who knows this region will understand my statement. Amboli is at top of ghat in Sawantwadi taluka. You have climb down entire ghat to go at Sawantwadi.
Sawantwadi is famous for wooden toys. They are exported to various countries.
Royal family of this region was fond of playing wooden cards. These hand painted wooden cards are still made by hand in Sawantwadi by very few families. Now, whenever we go on trip, we buy local specialty as souvenir. I am going to buy these wooden hand painted cards as souvenir of this trip.

what is name of these wooden playing cards or name of play?

I think this is hard to guess.
I am expecting no answer from anyone.
If anyone can post the answer, i will be really happy.

"what is name of these wooden playing cards or name of play?"

Are you talking about 'Ganjifa'? This form of cards was popular during Peshva ruling in Maharashtra, but actually originated in Persia.

Hey Limpid, i was not expecting any answer.
congrats!
Now, i come to know why SAM always gives parties and freebies to smart Bangalore bhpians.

Yesterday night at 11:45 pm, i logged off team-bhp. Went to sleep.
At around 1 am, my mobile beeped twice. I did not move. Again mobile beeped.

OUR TRIP TO AMBOLI
ON 9 AND 10 JULY.
DEPARTURE 6 AM
MIDC CHOWK
630 BHIGWAN CHOWK
SHARP READY WITH
WET GEAR TO ENJOY
MONSOON MASTI.

I read this sms cursing our group treasurer Mr Rajan Nair. This man always sms after midnight. Let him enter in waterfall in Amboli with only barmuda, i will take revenge.

Today, i called 55 year old Nair about trip. Asked him,

" raat me sms kyo kiya, nind kharab ho gaya."

" mai kya karti, log phone bhi nahi karati aur trip ke paise bhi nahi deti, raatko unki nind kharab kiye bina log muze phone nahi karti"

" ok, you can sms between 10 pm to 11 pm."

" arey, ye to logoka nightwork karne ka prime time hota hai, unhe disturb karneka paap mai nahi karti".

"Nair, trip me kitne log aa rahe hai?"

"pata nahi"

"what?"

" kuccha logone paise diye hai, kucch log cancel ho rahi hai, final to kal subah pata hogi."

I have booked some family suits in the resort. If number increases , i have to book some more suits. If number is not finalised yet, we may face room shortage. I again asked him,

" what should i do about resort booking?"

" jo hoga dekha jayegi".

This fellow should go to Hindi classes.

Tomorrow morning, we are starting trip. As trip starts, i will start to pour pics on this tread. Of course, this will depend upon mobile signal. But at least Upton Kolhapur, i will not face problem.
After Kolhapur, we have two options to take route.

Route1. kolhapur-gargoti-uttur-ajra-amboli. this route is with small and slow roads all within Maharashtra.

Route2. kolhapur-kagal-nipani-sankeshwar-gadhinglaj-ajra-amboli.
this road is 4 lane upto sankeshwar. on this route, we have to enter in Karnataka and again enter in Maharashtra. Roads are good.
As you know, we are traveling by hired tourist 32 seater bus.
In amboli, we have booked suits in the resort managed by Viththal Kamat group. I hope, we will not face room shortage.

How many members will come to trip?{this be finalised tomorrow morning}.
a] less than 20 B] 20 to 25 c] more than 25.

After Kolhapur, by which route we will travel?

In Amboli, which is resort we booked?

this is last day of quiz.

Watch LIVE this trip tomorrow morning starting at 0700am.

Ah! This quiz is not without cheat codes!

I just moved my mouse over the first option pic and it gave me the answer as Hiranyakeshi temple, Nadi Ugam.

As you found it, i forget to rename that temple and malshej ghat pic.
Still, i have to wait two days for correct answers.

Ashish, first of all let me wish you enjoy every bit of this trip. Looking forward to live report and pics.

Also, I enjoyed your innovative travelogue with quizzes and interesting facts.

One question from my side, why did they organize this trip in mid-week? If this was done in the weekend, probably more people would have joined.

Ok. Coming back to your last quiz
I hope more than 25 members will join this trip.
After Kolhapur, you guys take route 2, i.e. Kolhapur - Kagal - Nippani
Your resort is Lotus Suites 4-Star Amboli.

Have a great time cheers:
