Hey Amit, did you have to pay toll at the beginning of Paud road? I had been to Harihareshwar two months back. There is a case in court regarding the toll collection on that road. So I just refused to pay them and they did not say a word.

ya i had to pay. hey have put barriers and lot of rowdy people. i saw them fighting with some indigo guy so i preferred to pay. i too think the toll is evil on that route. there are so many people traveling to pirangut offices and all.

Pune to Paud is good, the lanes / shoulders are well marked. Paud onwards to Mulshi, Tamhini and beyond is not so good - can expect the road to deteriorate further in the rains.

The views, however, are excellent and should be even better in the rains.

Great Photos. Would like to do this over the weekend from Mumbai& in the Rains. Any suggestions where we can break journey and the hotel where we can stay. I did the lonavala Mulshi Pune recently . I loved the place and the journey . What route do I take to reach Tamini ?

Assuming you reached Mulshi just before the dam / lake, you need to turn right and then enter the Tata Gate (left fork). There are 2 turn-offs to Lonavala on the Pune - Kolad road, one before the Mulshi Lake (after Paud) and one after the Mulshi Lake (near Nive).

No idea about hotels though - saw many eateries but nothing looked impressive.

Four days back, went to Pali ganapati via Tamhini ghat.
Its green everywhere. Lot of waterfalls adding charm to beauty.
View at plus valley is really awesome.
Surprise surprise, road condition is good. Not a single pothole in Pune to Vile road. Mulashi dam to Dongarwadi road is patched.

ROAD CONDITION:
1] pune to paud----very good
2] paud to mulashi dam-----good/ok
3] mulashi dam to tamhini gaon------ok road/mixed road
4] tamhini gaon to dongarwadi-----patched road but no pot hole.
5] dongarwadi to end of ghat----average road / no pothole.

Tamhini Ghat- My Trip

Last week I went to tamhini ghat. If you are coming to pune in mansoon season then you must see the tamhini ghat. 60-65 Km from pune.
Tamhini Ghat is graced with natural beauty and splendor. This magnificent ghat is full of waterfalls during monsoon and some of them are too big that they even fall down to the road. You will love the drive in this ghat but take some precautions which my friend Ashish suggested.
1] There is no puncturewalla beyond poud. so your stepney should be perfect.
2] After pirangut, there is no petrol pump.
3] after mulashi dam, there is no hotel for food. so stock it.
4] You should be back before sunset.

Here is some pics of my trip.
