Pune To Tamhini - Monsoon ! Heaven!

Hi guys,
The whole week was damn boring and i though of a plan to go out in my alto in the rain after seeing the Ad "Lets Go, In an Alto" boondo mai boondo mai..

We planned to go to Tamhini ghat after a discussion to go to Lonavala which i feel damn boring nowdays due to rush and rowdy public spoiling the fun.

Tamhini is a great place to visit during monsoon especially for puneites. You can enjoy a stretch of 100 Kms from chandani chowk to the mumbai border from where the Mahad Area starts.

Beautiful waterfalls, variety of terrains, tough ghats , jungles ,lakes and all the beauty of the nature. It feels like heaven.

Attaching some pics. sorry for the pic quality as i had to use cell's camera as my samsung digicam's lens got stuck and it got hanged.

the visibility was very low due to the dense clouds surrounding us. you cannot drive over max 40 KMPH.

thanks techno, to be frank the biggest issue on this route is that there are not much good options where you can have food. most of the hotels/resorts look deserted.
while going towards mahad we had food at one hotel named Raigad Inn or so. dont exactly remember the name. while returning we stopped at hotel sahyadri resorts, which only looks nice but the service and food is damn pathetic.

i advice you to eat at place where you will find many cars parked i.e where there is more rush.

Wow, the place looks wonderful. Will be heading that side soon. Waiting for my ride. So probably will head in 2 weeks. How are the road conditions? Any places that we can spend a night? Information is always appreciated. Thanks in advance.

it will be a great drive in your new ride. it is not a place to stay overnight. however if you want a overnight journey you may travel during the day to see these beautiful places and go ahead to destination Diveagar. there u can stay overnight see the beautiful beaches and a place called harihareshwar.

though i doubt about the beach idea during rains

Hey nice pics of the waterfalls.
Had been through Tamhini ghat at the end of June on the way to Harihareshwar beach. The waterfalls were not as great as seen in your pics. It's amazing how a good amount of rainfall can transform the surroundings.

Anyways, you also talked about Lonavala being too crowded & rowdy crowd turning up there. I guess Mulshi & Tamhini ghat will be no different in a couple of years from now. Even now you can see several rowdy groups in their Sumos & Indicabs driving around rashly in this area with alcohol for company. The problem is not alcohol but the people who consume it irresponsibly & cause danger to themselves & people around them.

yes i saw many sumos with drunken people dancing on the road mostly at the end of the ghats MH06 passing tourist sumos and taveras.

but frankly speaking lonavala has more crowd due to the ease of transport there. Locals and trains mainly. to go to tamhini u need a vehicle of ur own.
i will pray to god that these spots done become commercialized.

the roads are very god except some patches, but as you pay a toll it implies that they have constructed a good road.
