Absolutely Not

Nice pics of Ginjee Fort. Did you go to the top? Any pics to share from there? Although I have passed this thrice but never stopped to enter the Fort.

Impressed with the HID pics. Nice one. Will Pm you for that in details.

Abhi

Good atleast someone felt not to open a new thread and this is someway good so that the full details of the place will be at the reach of 1 thread instead of going for 2-3 different threads.

We are happy dude as Abhi has said in his quote and hope in future others also follow in the same footstep.

By the way nice pictures and very short & cute travelogue

Nope, didnt take the time to go atop the fort... sometime later when I have like minded folks with me!

HID : Blueraven has a limited number of these 4300k sets.

It took me a while to realize how worthy they are because the intensity isnt as much as a 6000k or 8000k kit (in a way thats good cos it doesnt really hinder vision for the driver/oncoming traffic).

@Abhi, nice writeup.
@Anirudh, thanks for the pics.

Now, coming to my question : Which is the better route to head to Pondy? Is the route via Kanchipuram-ECR better, or the route via Tiruvanamalai-Gingee? If i were to do the Kanchi-ECR route, how much would it add in terms of distance?

Benny, I have already mentioned the distance in my travelogue. it is about 100km more.
From Bangalore, Thiruvannamalai route is the best. I just took the ECR route to explore ECR otherwise I would have returned by the same route.

Abhi, thanks for the info. I noticed that upon closer scrutiny of your travelogue. Since you went rather recently, i assume the roads on the Thiruvannamalai route are not all cracked up and potholed?

That was a very quick reply, between!

Best route from BLR to Pondy

Hello guys,

Am reviving this old thread as I'm planning a drive to Pondy this Sunday - Aug 23. Plan to leave by 4.30 am drive down drop my sister at the University and then drive back the same day.

This will not be my first highway outing. I have driven extensively on the highway and the longest I drove was in Sept last year I drove from BLR to TVM (750 kms) in a little over 15 hours.

Bearing this in mind and with a little research, I have decided to take the following route - Bangalore-Hosur-Krishnagiri- Chengam-Tiruvannamalai-Gingee-Tindivanam-Pondicherry.

I will either take the Santro or the Alto. Will need any inputs that you have for me on this route.

Thanks in advance,
gpa

Hi there, I have plans to undertake a trip from Goa to Pondicherry and back in the first week of September. But first, I plan the following:

1. Three of us are likely to travel in my Alto LXI.

2. We plan to undertake the journey over two days -- Goa to Bangalore and Bangalore to Pondicherry.

3. We plan to leave our residence (Porvorim-Goa) atr about 6.30 am and hope to reach Belgaum at 10.30 am.

4. From there, we plan to take the Pune-Bangalore expressway.

I need some advice on the Bangalore-Pondicherry route. I would appreciate the following advice:

1. The best route from Bangalore to Pondicherry.
2. Decent and reasonable places to stay overnight at Bangalore
3. Historical sites to visit between Bangalore and Pondicherry.

While I have driven my Alto for a maximum of 500 kms (Goa-Bhatkal-Goa) on a single day, this is my first long distance (1000+ kms) trip across multiple states. The thought of this trip already excites me.

Many thanks,
Melvyn

Melvyn

Pls stick to Krishnagiri - Chengam - TVmalai - Tindivanam Route (same as I mentioned in my travelogue in first post).
THere are many places to stay, pls search for more travelogues, you will get an idea. You can find beach resorts and hotels based on your budget.

As far as historical site is concerned, I guess Gingee Fort may of any interest. Check Benny (benbsb29) travelogue of Pondi. He did explore some nice churches there. That travelogue might help you for local sighseeing.

Thanks a lot, Abhi. I too have noticed that many seem to prefer the Krishnagiri - Chengam - TVmalai - Tindivanam Route.
