Yes!. That was part of the attraction.. The car performed admirably well.

Thanks to all for your appreciation. I've been trying to find how to caption the pics, but have had no luck. Maybe someone can help me out?.

My Tri-State Roadtrip - The highlights

This set of photos are from the last leg of the journey in Tamil Nadu leading to the Kerala border into Wayanad District. The last photo is of the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border check post. I'm going to let the pictures do the talking this time. Before i set out on this trip i didn't know i was this close to "heaven" sitting in Chennai at the moment!.Tomorrow the Kerala portion of my roadtrip commences with a visit to the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, Soochipara Falls and Pookot Lake , all in Wayanad District before ending up in Kappade beach in Kozhikode.

Nice pics.
Without power steering, does loaded Alto caused any problem in ghat section?

We had no problems with the Alto. The car performed admirably well, i must say. Regarding the group photo, my friends are not automobile enthusiasts nor do they care to have their photos plastered all over the net!. I was warned!..Thanx for your appreciation.

My Tri-State Roadtrip - The highlights

Day 3 of my roadtrip began in the town of Sultan Bathery in Kerala. Photos 1 through 8 chronicle my visit to the Wayanad Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary. Nice place, but there were no animals save for a few deer!.The fee was Rs.200 to get in and Rs.250 for the Jeep ride.Though i was disappointed, i felt i was supporting a good cause and left it at that. The last two photos show us driving to Soochipara Falls. Which was a real treat.

Day3 saw us continuing our way through Wayanad District and having visited Soochipara Falls, decided to pay a visit to Pookot Lake. We reached there at sundown, which made for some interesting moments as almost all the tourist crowd had left and the place looked desolate but at the same time alluring. Photos of the Calicut Valley are towards the end of this set of pics. The last two photos show us driving to Calicut taking us to the end of Day3.

Continuing with Day4 of my roadtrip which began in Calicut(Kozhikode), Kerala. After driving through the natural beauty of Wayanad, Calicut was a big let down. I was really shocked at the way they maintain the beach, which otherwise could be a great asset to the city. Also, there was a strike and food was scarce. None of the restaurants were open beyond 10pm for fear of reprisals and processions everywhere, even at late hours of the night!. A visit to Kappad beach (no beachgoers there!), about 20km from Calicut made up for the dismal night in the city and this where i start this set of pics, which includes a couple of photos of the Calicut(Kozhikode) backwaters and driving back through Wayanad to the Karnataka border.

This set of photos start at the Karnataka border showcasing scenery while driving to Mysore and the Mysore palace. The palace desperately needs a makeover is my opinion. It is a grand structure and deserves to be better maintained.

Concluding this roadtrip with more photos of Brindavan gardens and driving back to Chennai on the Bangalore-Mysore highway and NH-7 , the last photo, though a bit blurry taken at the last toll booth in Sriperambudur before entering Chennai city limits. Hope you enjoyed this tour as much as i did. The countryside in India is indeed beautiful as compared to the cities. The contrast is indeed striking. Cheers!
