Weekend trip to Warangal, A.P

The long weekends (aug 15 weekend) are always a trouble planning the trips. My so called Goa trip was cancelled just because i couldn't churn up enough leaves and i was asked to be in office on saturday. Just booked a resort in Hyd for a night just to get out of the boredom. Kid started feeling feverish on thursday so dropped the resort plan. Talked to big brother Suren and he has decided to go to Warangal for no reason. mad person i thought! And i learned later that he had already travelled on 15th morning.
Then Aug 15th came. nothing to do. then a wonderful idea clicked. Why don't do shopping? Such a nice day without traffic. damn! most of the shops were closed. Just the one i wanted was open. Straight to panasonic showroom. Purchase TZ5. They had just one demo piece. They told me that they will get one from their other showroom. I told that i will return once they have the piece. The showroom people were ice cold without any intereset to sell anything. I thought govt office. But was good in a way that i could wander around checking their products.
My wife spotted a microwave and we both checked out. Got a free microwave set of vessels and bought that immediately and returned home.
waited till noon for my panasonic. No calls. I made a couple of calls and was satisfied that my panny was on the way. Finally i got a call by 4 pm and off to the showroom. Got the cam.
Phoned up Suren bhai and got to know that the roads and weather are fine. I thought i will make a trip too and asked him to book a room for me. The joy of outsourcing. I can test the camera too.
So 16th morning I started off. Sparse traffic and driving was a breeze in the city. From Tranaka turned left and straight roads to Warangal. After chocking for a long time in city i could get some space to breathe. Roads were four lane for some distance and turned to normal two lane state highway kind of thing. Good roads. Reminded me of the Coimby Sathyamangala Sathy road. Surface was not as good. Small pathches of surface lost due to rains. But i like the sound of the tyres flying over the patches. Surprisingly there was enough greenery on both sides which was good for the family since they enjoyed the views. 150 kms covered in around 2 hrs 30 mins.
Reaching the hotel was a bit of tussle. The city was quite big and lot of phone calls to Suren made me finally reach there.

Nice pics kutlee !!

Is the Warangal road left from Tarnaka? I thought it is left from Uppal X Roads straight via Ghatkesar, Bhongir etc.

Your right about it Abhi, that is the correct route.

@kutlee: Good snaps kutlee, nice to see so many road snaps, and yes you have managed to take some good snaps of the greenery too. I shall post a few snaps that my son and I had taken, in a short while.

Warangal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
The huge fort entrances were made from a single rock. There is a 2000 year old Jain temple which both of us missed. I am going there again next time soon.
As they say about revs on petrol engine, nothing matches the wide angle!! lol i am loving it. more snaps later.

Kutlee as you know, we could not make it to the temples for it was a Lunar eclipse on Saturday and the temples were closed due to that reason, moreover we were advised by elders not to visit a temple that day. Sunday we had to leave, hence only the Badrakali temple visit which was pretty close by to where we were staying right?

The Jain temple is where I stopped if you remember well and asked you to carry on, since Prabhu was there with his family. It basically is 4~5 kms away from a hamlet called Aleru which falls on the way to Hyderabad from Warangal.

Moreover it's a good thing not to visit all the spots at one go so that we have the impetus to go again and again, whatsay?

@kutlee, nice impromptu trip. But, the pics have come a bit hazy and lack color depth. Looks like you were driving too fast and didn't want to take the pictures at leisure

@Suren, your pics have come out quite good. deep rich colors and the red chilly is looking awesome.

Hope you both guys enjoyed your long weekend there

Re: Weekend trip to Warangal, A.P

Can someone suggest a place to stay in Warangal? Will be traveling there this weekend, and don't want to spend too much, or spend a lot on crappy hotels. I'm OK with homestays or AirBnB like arrangements as long as it is safe.

@OP, how much did you spend on City Grand back then?
