| Munnar - In the rains

Time : 4 AM
Team : myself, wifey and our swete daughter who is soon to be 2 yrs on 09/11
Machine : Indigo LS with 67000 on odo
Destination : Munnar
Tring Tring comes the alarm and am up from my sleep.Got my wifey up and soon we were packing for the trip.The previous day, I had made some initial preparations for the trip(filled up the wiper washer,checked the tyres, oil,coolant and stuff)
Packed our stuff in one bag and kid's stuff in another.
Time 4:30 : bag packing done and wifey prepared some hot tea.Quickly gulped it and then went on to check last minute stuff...
Time 5:00 : packed the car with all luggage, got my kid up , quickly dressed her and then off we start
Time: 5:30 : started from our CV Raman Nagar house towards marthahally.There was no much traffic and we could have a smooth trip.I had strict instructions from my wifey not to cross 100 and I tried my best to keep to that limit
Reached Hosur and we decided to try out the Palakkode route as I heard that krishnagiri Dharmapuri was not that good.
This decision rewarded me in the best way in terms of less traffic, good roads and scenic drive.
We passed Rayakottai and had our first break for getting some food for the kiddie.30 mins break and we started the next leg.Passed rayakottai,dharmapuri byepass thoppur and took the right to Mettur.Again,good roads and time for next break.
Stopped at Royal bakes at Mettur (a mallu shop) which we usually stop for snacks on all our trips.Filled our tanks and after 45 minutes, started the next leg of journey.
reached Bhavani, searched for some snack stop , but then decided to carry on.At Perundurai, we took the road to Dharapuram and further to udumalai.Filled up my indigo's tanks,searched for a hotel for lunch,no luck, as my wifey was not ready to go to road side dhaba.
Continued our journey towards Munnar, reached the first check post.Had to wait for 20 mins as there was some truck in front and the driver was missing.Waited patiently and then our man came from within the check post guards's room.
Managed to pass the check post and then started our winding journey to the hills.
Location:Chinnar check post.From teambhp , I was aware of the 10 rs funda that happens at these checkpost and hence I was prepared for the same.The same drama .Fill in your name and all family history and finally came the order.10 rupees please..
gave him his quota and passed the checkpost.I don't exactly remember how many checkposts I had crossed.Suddenly it started drizzling and we thought it might affect our Munnar plans , but then we decided to continue as we had no other options.Drove through the winding roads , and finally at around 4 30 reached Munnar town.Our resort was on the Devikulam road and hence continued the uphill drive for another 5 more kms and landed up at Springdale Resort.
Now, one word about this resort.Don't ever go to this place.First of all , they were doing some maintenance work and hence the so called main lobby was closed .So we had to do some trekking stuff to reach our rooms.Seeing the resort, my wifey told that we should not stay for more than a night .
After unpacking, we went back to Munnar town in for filling our tummy.Found one decent restaurant (Munnar Inn) and had some good food and later returned to the resort for the day.
This is the end of Day 1 of our trip.
btb, next day was our kiddies bday and hence , had ordered some cakes for the same but we were not knowing what was in store for us the next day.
