CVT trip to Ponmudi, near Trivandrum

Hi,

In the first week of July, did a trip to Ponmudi, near Trivandrum with a friend of mine. It was a first time for both.

We left a sunny Trivandrum and reached a wet foggy Ponmudi. But we did enjoy the drive!

My friend was testing out my Sony T200.

This was the start of the hill sections of the drive.

Sorry HVK, both of us were too engrossed in the drive and the camera to really notice the distances, place names and the like.

This was almost the final leg of the drive. It was fun driving in the rain.

The whole trip was Alleppey - Trivandrum - Ponmudi - Kollam, Alleppey. It was 414 kms in all with a mileage of 15.4kpl, two of us with AC On all the time.

Seems like an interesting place to visit. How are the crowds like on weekends?

Think he uses mobile for pix. Some pix I think is en route to Ponmudi.

Roads are closed now for re-tarring else we would have had the meet to this place.

Hai TRRK,

Nice photos and videos, though a little shakey. Your photos and short explanations have captured the cooler and greener part of Ponmudi nicely.

Brings back loads of memory of the times we have driven in a bike / car up there. We had a big buyer for our products and a very friendly Dr.Venugopal at Mechinston Estate. Had to visit him every 4-6 months, became family friends, used to go on weekends and stay over and get drunk.. Those were the days.....talking about the 80's!!!!

I went to Ponmudi couple of weeks back, at that time the tarring work was progressing, but without blocking the road. The stretch up to the first curve is neatly done now and noticed that they are increasing the width of the road a bit more en route till to the top station.

They are available in higher resolution. These are from a Sony SC730 and taken by my friend. The higher resoltion ones ar there in the computer. I have reduced the sizes for ease of uploading.

I have been there just once and it was not crowded at all. It was a week day. There are hardly any facilities right at the top.
