pramods: Good grief- that's mind-boggling. I've been there as a child and that must have been in the late 60s or early 70s. I was at first confused by the name (we knew it as Chikalda- perhaps a child-shortening). What a find. I was born in Nagpur and we lived in Amravati for some years- must check with the folks from which of these town we had ventured to C.

The pics don't trigger any memories. The only picture I have in my mind is of the bungalow we lived in and the immediate surrounds. I can recall getting a thorn in my foot, and the ladies of the party giving me first aid, dressing the wound etc. (it was 2-3 families)
