Nice pics yaar. You indeed took lots of pics which I tend to ignore in nandi hills drives thinking that it is near our house and we will take more pics in the next visit.
Yes, I couldn't make for Saklespur due to visit of the relations.
Beleive it or not, i had taken like 200+ pics all together in this half-a-day trip . I came to know only when i plugged the memory in my laptop and saw the numbers.

Hey Mahesh, good report, now I know whom to ask about road to nandi, looks like every kilometer is photographed. Am waiting for your entire trip report, looks like I have to watch it like we watch TV serials.

@Gurudutt gd1418
The statue which scared you as a kid is in Chamundi Hills Mysore, not Nandi Hills, anyway, I'm sure Mjothi will try and scare you with a picture of that too shortly.

Sorry for that. I was uploading from office and for some reason, I keep getting Database error during upload of Photo. So, I made sure I put less number and hence this bits & pieces.

Now to the BogaNandhiswara Temple

Then we came down and had breakfast in the hotel near the "T"-Junction, where we take the 2nd left to go to Nandhi Hills after the Highway. This route actually takes you to Chikaballapur.

The food was really decent and good. Sorry forgot the name, its the first restaurant. Had good idly, vada and garam chai.

Only when I came down from Nandi Hills, I noticed that I forgot to fill Petrol in my car. The needle had no energy to go up, yes it was almost sitting on "0".

I checked for the nearest bunk and there came a shock to me. Its 12KMs from there and in Chikkaballapur. Ok, no option, so I just started to drive towards the temple praying to God.

On the way to Temple

In about 5 KMs we reached the temple. The parking is on the road side but still people collect parking charges with no signs or boards. Fine.

We parked the car and entered into the temple. The moment we saw the temple, we got attracted towards its ancient look. I usually love old temples, especially the Shiva temple. This one fits both and hence I was thanking Hari for pointing me to this temple.

Some info about the Temple.

I thought he was referring to the same and had gone to Mysore. And the timing he mentioned too matched. Blr to Mysore is 90 miles. And even the Nandi statue matched to what is on the Chamunda hills...:-(

We went in to the temple and worshiped the lord. The Pujari who were there was so old, that when he was showing the Aarti, his hands was shaking like anything. I was even afraid if it may fell down. I checked with him to see if we can take any pictures inside. To my surprise he said, its ok. I took some pictures, but this camera or this pics is not doing any justice to what I saw in terms of the hand work done by those great people. The carvings are so nice on the stone.

Look at the carving on rock with gaps inside. The jewels, ornaments was so precisely done on the rock.

Nandi Inside the temple

There was a umbrella done with Rock.

Then went to the other side where they had Amman.

Further to the right you have the Vasantha Mandaba, Thulabaram mandaba etc.
One day trip to Nandi Hills & BhogaNandishwara Temple...-img_3801.jpg
If you go further, you can see excellent pond in the temple. It is very big and the surroundings shows clearly that this temple is so old (almost 1200 years, one of the ancient Dravidian temple).

The pond is so calm and we can have the view shortly.

The ambiance was so nice that we felt like staying there for more time. In my opinion, this place is much better than Nandi Hills and we could have spent the whole day here. Anyway, there's always next time

I should thank Hari for letting us know this ancient gold.

Had some good snaps in the temple pond and left to see around the temple.
