The distance from calicut to waynad is 72 Kms and should take around 1.5 hours and the road over the ghat is very nice and broad at most places and ofcourse great views of the plains below.....

The best season to do this trip is after monsoon, or just before monsoon (june 1st week).
House boats are available and the tariff depends on which property it belongs to. If it is KL resort, it could go upto 15K per night.
Its nice to be on the boat , but not for long.. Anyways its a personal choice.

Lovely pics Pramod. Thanks for sharing. Reminds me of my trip to Munnar, of course I did in monsoon. For the three days I stayed in Munnar, it had been continuosly pouring. I have seen at least 50 water falls (small and big) surrouding Munnar in that three days. Altogether a different experience we had.

Planning a 3D/2N in Kumarakom Lake Resort.

Any suggestions to get a good deal ? , direct booking @KLR or go through one of the online Travel Agents.

Directly book through KL. They will have good deals for the month of May when the number of tourists to that region is less.
I booked for 3N-4D. I paid only for 2N.
