v12 the bus you showed of canara pinto is basically a long distance traveller as they are volvo. Mangalore udupi route still has the Tata's buses
Hi maddy,

The Canara Pinto Volvo was the bus we used to get from Mumbai to Udipi. Mangalore-Udipi buses are still Tata buses. I guess you misunderstood me

These are the buses used for Mangalore - Udipi trips :

And those local drivers drive like crazy. Its a scary experience with most of them racing with someone else.

Well F1fan that was fun sometime ago. Travelling by these was such a pleasure. But two wheelers on this road had a real bad time till the govt decided to make everyones life miserable and present the National horror as its in its present state.

well v12 you should check out the view you get from hotel kediyoor of the entire udupi bus stand. Great sight it is.
And the pics of st mary's is nice. All the years i studied there i wanted to visit that place but neva made it. Maybe soon though

Those bus drivers are probably racing each other to reach first.I am from Udupi too.I never get bored of going there. The sad part is the roads.Specially between Saligrama and Udupi. Its gotten worse.

Rudra Sir, Can you post some pics of the rock formation? I have pics of the rocks I took on St Mary's island but not sure if its the same thing you are referring to.

The roads in Udipi are dangerous as well. The highways are mostly used by buses and trucks who have a minimum speed of 60-80 kmph. Couple that with car drivers not wear seatbelts and riders not wearing helmets (I thought Karnataka had introduced the helmet rule much before Bombay).

The road to Kemmanu which was very bad a few years back has improved a lot. Travelling by bus or rick would be a nightmare earlier with passengers being thrown around due to very bad roads. The travelling time had also reduced to a great extent because of the improved roads.

aah! I saw an ad of bhima jewellery in one of the last pictures? It was the story of bhima bhatter from udupi migrated to alappuzha and flourished with his jewellery business there.now they got around 20 branches in south india? not a biased one - but BHIMA is the only one jewellery which is respected to give pure gold with out adultration ,where the alukkas and zaveris are dominating south india markets
