Awesome drive. Something I'd love to be able to do myself. Btw how much did that GPS unit cost?

Hat's off to you Travelbug; not an easy task to drive such a long distance solely! :thumbs up You actually deserve this.

Many-many happy returns of the day Travelbug cheers:. Enjoy your day!

thats obviously a dare, i could think of something like that , when i get married next year, i guess your life partner is the best travel partner to have.
Well i am thinking of buying a new petrol car, right now i have a diesel fiat palio 1.9d , what car would you recommend , A star or swift or the Getz

Can't compare A-Star and Swift or Getz. For me Swift is Peppy and Getz is more comfortable( atleast back seats).

Well written - Thanks for sharing! You should have taken a snap of the 3 foot drop that you mentioned. Scary stuff at 3 digit speeds - what was it doing there?!!

Thanks kb100, I thought of taking picture of that drop on the way back but somehow missed it.

Travel Bug,

Congratulations on finishing a meaty run with nice photographs!!!! Really enjoyed reading about your run, very clear log of timings and distance, gives some kind of a recent bench mark for the sectors, loved it, my kind of run.

Your averages are pretty good, except for the Surat-Baroda section, anybody could get mired there. If you minus that section, you have clocked one of the best times in these sectors; I can say this as I've done the entire stretch.

6692 KM is some drive on a Swift, great non-stop laps, single driver etc., .... Salutesclap:

Thats a pretty strenuous drive you have done. Nice details of journey break up. Did you face any issue in your car after such a long drive?

That's good for you buddy but just a question whether you have Delphi nav 200 or Delhi Nav 300. Because nav 200 is 20k and nav 300 is 23K :Frustratias per my knowledge.

You're right! Its the 200! :Frustrati

Nice triplog there but given that you'd been preparing for months, I would've reckoned you would have halted for lunch at Sankam Residency, Belgaum. The Belgaum - Kolhapur stretch is the best stretch of road sans any traffic at all.

Also, you mentioned that at Surat, there was a holdup owing to a Tata Safari which fell into the Narmada. That should be the Tapi. The Narmada flows between Ankleshwar and Bharuch.

Cheers

Awesome trip. That too as the sole driver!!
Have to go to Delhi shortly and this thread has proved informative.
Had gone to Ahmedabad coupla months ago by the same route.
Got a Question, Why not this route?

Hi Omkar,

I would not suggest this route although it's shorter by around 500-600 kms as this route is not safe for night driving and roads are pretty bad once you enter MP specifically before Gwalior.
Wish you a Safe Journey.
