Off Road Drive at Araku Valley (Vizag) in Verna CRDi

Initially I planned my trip to Mysore and Ooty ( special Thanks to Godwin and Helstar Anup who encouraged my trip , though I could’t do it but definitely planning the same for next long drive ) in this holiday but due to some personal reasons amended to vizag (Visakhapatnam) – Araku –

Places covered in my Trip : Annavaram , Vizag , Araku and Sreekakulam ( Arasuvali temple )

Places covered in Araku valley : Ananthagiri and Kollaputta nearly 10Km from Friday market at Araku.

Don’t miss good food ( Andhara Style and with some bangali touch ) at Hotal Sai Ram in Borra Caves , Country chicken curry is the special Item there and we need to place our order at least 20 minutes in prior. I drive down there only to have food .

My main motto of the post is to share my Off Road Trip travelogue pics with BHPians
At Anantagiri water falls :
In Anantagiri village you can ask any body regarding waterfalls , This road is good for only MUV’s , I taken a chance and I drive down there. Road repair work is going on in this route they are constructing some bridges to reach water falls .

We found Several waterfalls, adorn the hillocks along the ghat road as we continue our journey through the mountains. we even find the coniferns along the roadways.I always experience the chilling effect while passing through these coniferns. Our first stop in the journey is 'Anantagiri village'.

Anantagiri is famous for its coffee plantations, Watrerfalls and the climate it offers Anantagiri waterfalls are situated about 2 to 3 km from the beautiful Punnami resorts (aptdc).Local people can easily guide you through the way. The road to this particular falls is mostly damaged, steep, rocky and sometimes hard to travel on your vehicle till the end. (Any way we take our vehicle , stoped at one point, from where we walked till the falls). The falls is a beautiful site and a place for a refreshing bath . You can enjoy the freshness and the chillness of the mountain water. The fall has many slippery rocks and a little care will help you a lot. Around the falls you can observe a beautiful scenery with the clouds and the fog covering on mountains. The falls are surrounded by step farming.
Most pace in the valley is covered with Pineapple , Jackfruit trees and Coffee plantation .

Ravi. Was actually waiting for your Ooty Travelogue. Nevertheless there was a roadtrip and Aruku Valley is one of the places I plan to visit during my mega AP roadtrip this year end. How was the drive from HYD to Vizag? and the route?

Nice photographs. Keep them coming Ravi.

Your travelouge brought back some good memories of Araku.

I did this last summer. Bangalore-Vizag-Hyd-Bangalore. We stayed at the Haritha resort in Ananthagiri. Wonderful views of the valley from there, and IMO better than the resorts in Araku.

I'm surprised we could not find our way to the ananthagiri falls though.

Look forward to the rest of your travelouge.

I second your comments on the GQ. The Rajamundry -Vizag stretch is absolute bliss to drive on.

You are right about the food near Borra Caves. Thats been my favourite too.Any of the huts there serve you awesome meals. Infact, Thats one place which comes to my mind whenever I think of a good Andhra meal!!

Glad to know you enjoyed.

Surya , Season's Greetings for you too. I fully agree with you regarding food at those hotels. You know one thing , all hotels will be closed by 6.30 pm and for country chicken you need order them at least one hour before.

Srini , to get the off road to ananthagiri falls , we need to ask any villager about water falls , immediately they will show you a cement road which leads to water falls. Here a lot road work is going on , soon its going to be tourist spot with view point. You can observe this from one my pic where a concrete mix is used for culvert construction.
