Great determination to brave the cold!! But I think, you may have come across some snow, if you could have gone till Narkanda. There had been at least one snowfall till the time you went.
I didnt go to Narkanda. I went to Naldehra

Shimla was jam-packed during Christmas and New Year. Sadly, the trees and surrounding scenary was dry and dusty due to foggy and wintery weather.

Good traelogue Avi. The combination of chilled winter, hot paranthas and tea bring back old memories. I did not realize this was posted in Sep so was wondering how come there is no snow in Shimla in Jan. We did Shimla trip in Jan 95 with two buses full and a 2 liter coke bottle with right stimulants (read Old Monk). It was snow and snow everywhere as we neared Shimla. I could still visualize those beatiful tress along winding roads. There was a skate ring in Khufri, did you not try that? Another amazement was, none from our tour party came back without slipping a few times on roads of Shimla where as local labors were carrying Iron alairahs on their backs. Thanks for the pics bringing back memories of a past trip.

Not sure if you considered, Mussorie might be another good destination for winter trip from Delhi.

Sreenivas, thanks. Unfortunately, there was no snow for miles around. I was confident that we will certainly experience snow. But, then i have to relive my memories of my time in Boston for that.

Now for some fashion photography. Some pics taken for the camera

I mean, I like tawa parantha more that tandoori. Found one dhaba last sunday, near Ambala, which serves mouth watering tawa parantha, with unlimited butter. And if you say you don't take butter, they make strange faces,

Unfortunately I have to keep myself away from such treats, when I am the only driver on the trip.

Exactly, i hardly eat butter and when i am asking them to serve a small quantity along with my parantha's, waiters and my cousins look at me as if i am from a different planet.

I wonder if they know anything about a problem of recent times " Cholestoral"

@Anupmathur, here are some pictures of the hotel from outside and inside.

Hey Avi - great pics - still miss the Delhi food! I've stayed at Naldehra for 3 days - in the same log huts that you've clicked a picture of. Somehow the crowds at Shimla weren't my cup of tea & couldn't figure out what the Fagu hype was!

But like you, I did enjoy Naldehra - beautiful, peaceful & rather unspoilt
