Yes, red bull work, I took it after 15 hours of driving. I used to do 40-45 KMPH in 1st gear and 60-70 KMPH in 2nd to keep car going fast on hills.

nice pics.
bangy to pune, 858 km in 11 hr drive. impressive speed of avg 78km/hr.

toll of rs 685 mentioned is for bangy to pune or for entire trip.
if it is for entire trip, then it is quite low.
now a days, i pay rs 166 as toll for baramati to aurangabad round trip of 460km.

Its a toll for entire trip. Most of the toll I paid in Maharashtra, for the worst NH road.

Hi, I live in Pune, I am off in 4days time on a long South india Tour in my Tuscon. My route is as under.
Pune -Pandharpur- Kohlapur- Bangalore- coorg- Wynaad- Guruvayoor- Ernakulam- Munnar- Kodaikanal- Ooty- Mysore - Bangalore- Mangalore- Udipi- Goa- Pune.
There are certain stretches of roads which you have used recently. I wish to know the road conditions and if there is any stretch of roads which is BAD? Also which road did you take from Mysore to Kodai?
Thanks in advance

If you head straight to Munnar ,there is no need to go to Ernakulam(cochin city). So ,the Route will be :
Wayanad-Thrissur-NH47-Angamaly-MC Road-Perumbavoor-take turn to left for Kothamangalam-NH49-Adimaly-Munnar.
from Munnar you can touch Coimbatore-Ootty or Kodaikanal.

Saare, I agree with you totally. I am only going to Ernakulam since my cousins live in Tripunitura.
Secondly what is the route and the BEST road (meaning road condition) from Munnar to Ooty.
And lastly Would you have any information on the road condition and route from Madekeri to Kalpetta (Wynaad)
Thanks in advance
Narayan

Since you are starting from thrippunithura to Munnar ,you can go directly via NH49 to Munnar(via muvattupuzha, kothamangalam)

There is no best route.Only Munnar-Coimbatore direct drive via udumalapetta and pollachi to coimbatore-then straight to udhagamandalam via mettupalyam.

Roads are good, except 200 KM near Banglore, road surface are good but there are many sudden lane changes, due to road work in progress. I took NH from Munnar to Ooty, its very good road, drive careful around Coimbtore for about 30 KM strech. It's a one lane road, and everybody overtake haphazardly.
