Spoke to him now. Car went out of control & into a ditch which is around 6-7 feet deep. Both of them are absolutely fine, thanks be to God, no scratches. But the car is damaged. Ramky is on his way. Apparently one of those spots where accidents happen frequently.

Had talked with Ramky, they went off the road. Ramky informed them to take it easy till Shamlaji. The occupants are all fine, the car is damaged.
Ramky told me he will update me after he reaches the spot.

@khan_sultan, joie-de-vivre, mjothi, btirthankar : Thanks for giving me Ramky's number.

I now have Ramky's number. Ramky will update me after he reaches the spot.

Yes they are scratchless Anuj, car took all the beating.
Just spoke to Ramky who is on the way to the spot. Somewhere near Shamlaji there are some twisty curves which comes all of a sudden after a long stretch.
GSMINC was driving it, he saw the curve at a very high speed and lost the road and onto the ditch (Ramky told me that). Heard that 2 cars fell into that ditch today.

Exactly what happened will come to know from the horses mouth.

Will keep posted.

Just spoke to Arindam. He told this curve starts when you are about to start speeding in the straight stretch and is very steep. GSM couldnot turn the vehicle and hence it shoot of the road and landed on a ditch.

Although the ditch was about 6-7ft but they landed in 2 layers, hence the car didnot topple. The front part have entered a bit, radiator fluid gone so the car will be towed most probably to Ahmedabad.

Ramky should be reaching there in another one hour. NHAI tow vehicle has towed it to a Police station. Further course of action is in planning stage. Arindam will update me as and when there is one.

Good news is that both the occupants are scratchless and absolutely fine.
Another sedan was also toppled there before their car fell, and the locals say that every day there is minimum one vehicle in this ditch. I seriously feel NHAI should take cognizance of this situation and place some warning before-hand.

Really sad to know about the accident and glad that both are absolutely fine.

Also, depending on the extent of the damage to car, do keep posted if the GQ run is aborted or will they fix the car and continue back home?

When I talked with Arindam at 13:20 approx., he told me that as of now the plan is in jeopardy. This was not a slow speed crash ( my guess ) and he also talked about towing the vehicle. The roads around Shamlaji are a bit unpredictable and people there also are unpredicatable. We do it once in four months, and once even dad made the mistake and our Baleno went off the road. Fortunately, the speed was slow and we could brake in time so no damage except some under body scraping.
