PhotoBlog--Nagarjunsagar Dam & Hyderabad Parks

March end was a bit hectic as my in-laws were in town visiting from Delhi. Since it had just started getting hot, we still decided to make a quick trip to Nagarjun Sagar Dam and remaining couple of days tagged along with them to the regular sightseeing of Hyderabad like :-

NTR Gardens, Hyderabad---Mini Sentosa type park
Lumbini Park, Banks of Tank Bund, Hyderabad
Jalvihar---Water Park on Necklace Road, Hyderabad

So I thought of sharing a few pictures taken over that long weekend.

Hope you like them. Cheers!

The waterfalls was breathtaking and surprisingly, even in peak summer the water was gushing as if in monsoons.

Lovely pics, Avi. Looks like you've been gunning your engine at 140 , and that too in addition to the forum drives you've been organizing.
Man, I envy your spirit to hit the tarmac at the drop of a hat!
I've visited N'Sagar last year, after a gap of 5 years, and the sad part is that we are not allowed to drive on top of the dam any longer---they've made a new road and bridge--one of your pics is a pointer to that new road.
Waiting for more pics.

Thanks Venu, I gunned my engine upto 160kmph but snaps are not really possible due to various reasons. And, as you rightly said not driving on main dam road is a real dampener and it's ridiculous to take a re-route of 14kms instead of that 1km dam route. Dam authority folks have taken the petrol cut quite seriously

Since we could not take the main boat tour to island due to time constraints, we decided to enjoy the local flavour and spoke to a fisherman who gave us a short ride in a unique round shaped flat boat which can take the weight of 20 people, supposedly.. Thankfully, we were only 5 so it was not really out on the limb.

Their is a particular style of spin on this boat using the oar which reels your mind and may churn your insides out. But, it's definetly a whole lot of fun.

Wow, I know that those round boats are real fun---we'd used them on the Srisailam reservoir ---about 5 in each boat.
Spinning around can be real fun, apart from splashing water on the other boat.

Cool little boat

I like that cool little authentic home made boat.

I also like your greeting on your answering machine. :-).

I was in Hyderabad with my parents last march and unfortunately I could not do any of this fun stuff.

All we could do was Jalavihar but half of us got sick with that un-clean water. I wonder if they spend any money on cleaning that water especially there are so many people bathing in it without taking shower before entering into it.

Good heavens!

Hats off to you avi. I admire your energy and gung ho attitude. You must give yourself a middle name - may I suggest 'Tarmac'. Lovely pics from you (as usual).

Those boats are called coracles in english, (I hope thats the right spelling) they are also found in the UK. Coracles are quite common in AP and TN and are great fun if you are in no hurry to reach anywhere.

If there is water in the waterfalls at N.Sagar, there will be water in Bhavani Island as it is the same river!

Cheers,

Thanks Mahesh for name of that fish. We were so close and could see it twitching and writhing in agony, Sob Sob !!!

That day was actually not cool at all. It was baking hot. It must have been around 39C that day.

Thanks and you will find some pictures of Jalvihar coming up next. Thankfully, i did not enter the water so i wouldnt know how clean it was. But, folks from my family enjoyed their time in that water and none got sick too

Thanks Ravveenddra, And, i think your bang on with the name of that boat. It is Corracles and the way those guys make it spin is so much fun, you dont feel like getting out. Neera was requesting that guy to do it again and again and again...LOL

Btw, my spirits of taking off on highways have reduced considerably since these days its tbhp meets take up most of the time which incidentally is nothing to do with car, highways, trips. But, food, movie, fun, laughter etc

Coming up some pictures of Vijay Vihar at NS and Jalvihar on Necklace Road, Hyderabad

Sure its worth a visit. But, be ready for a tan as there is hardly any shelter and it is going to be baking hot. Try going there at 4pm and you can wade in the water till 7pm ( they close at this time)

Dont make the mistake of going in peak afternoon as we made, now you know where i got my suntan
