Kodaikanal through my eyes

We had the most enjoyable experience in Kodai last week and i want to share these images with you all. Sorry ,'ajmat'!!. I'm sure the two threads can showcase Kodai in more detail.

Starting off with images of Kodai lake. I was really surprised to know that it is an entirely man made creation, a fact that i must have missed when i last visited many decades ago.A great job,i must say.

Apart from the lake, what fascinated me more were some of the most enchanting bungalows located lakeside. If this is heaven, then i did see it in the flesh and the gardens in these bungalows are in themselves a real treat for the eyes!. I took a few pics to give you an idea.

More images from my Kodai trip to follow.

This wasn't a roadtrip, just a plain old vacation with overnight travel by train and taxicab from Madurai. The drive was uneventful and i will post some pics of my impressions later. Now, Bryant Park. I must commend the TN Govt. for the excellent maintenance of public parks throughout the state. Ooty's botannical garden is a masterpiece. Bryant Park is a smaller version, but nonetheless , quite enchanting, especially with the mist rolling in.

Kodai-Silent Valley view. Except for the fine layer of mist , this would have made for a great set of photos. The view is breathtaking.

More pics from this trip later.

Wonderful snaps, should call it a photologue. Is the Silent Valley view from Pillar rock/Berigam side? Banglow snaps are awesome. Where did you manage to stay and how was it?

Thanks!. The Silent Valley view is not from Berjijam lake side. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to get the permission to go there. I loved the bungalows and felt like buying one and settling there. I'll post hotel info later, since i'm a bit busy now but here's a couple of pics one of the Kodai Golf Club course and the other of the local scenery.

Actually there is nothing great at Berijam lake and the way they take you through is AWESOME & I make it a point to visit these places during off season (Dec-Jan). Its long time since I visit Kodai and have to during the next off season.

More photographs and include road (photos) too

Awesome pictures and looks like the right season you went to this place. I especially loved the beautiful looking gated houses. Each one is equally lovely

Great pics as usual nick. I am sure there are going to be many more BHPians visiting Kodai after these 2 side by side travelogues.

I visited this place back in 1991, yes 18 years back !! Hard to find any changes to the roads, fog, gardens, houses etc. Its nature and climate at its best !

@All

Thanks for your comments.

Continuing with pics of a pine forest, one of many in the area, kodai woodlands and Green Valley, through the mist, ofcourse. It was all pervasive , when we were there.

5th picture on the previous post - Is it entrance to Guna caves?

The last picture, Mist in the pine forest is surreal.
