XLRI Jamshedpur - A PhotoBlog

I had appeared for XLRI entrance test after completing my college in 1998, for their full time MBA programme. I had also appeared for CAT in the same year. Unfortunately the XLRI test had too many questions related with labor law for me to make any mark. CAT gave me an opportunity to appear in group discussions but I never got a personal interview call.

Many teambhians may have graduated from a top ten (Indian) management school, but there would be some, like me, who would have only dreamt. I recently attended a one week campus component for a satellite management programme offered by XLRI. Although I stayed there just for a week, it was like a dream come true for me. Stay in the junior’s hostel, eating at fixed timings in the hostel mess, and attending classes for 8 hours brought back some old memories. We were required to be punctual, were required to submit at least couple of assignments and gave some tests in just 5 days.

I am sharing the pictures from my campus stay in this blog.

Fantastic, will look forward for a virtual tour of the XLRI campus. Initially, I thought you had a chance to visit your alma mater. Its always a very nostalgic experience. Please keep the pics flowing.

Student Facilities – Hostels

The one thing that will strike you while on campus is the open, non interfering culture. There are almost no restrictions. I was little hesitant initially while taking pictures. I didn't knew if someone will have a concern. Perhaps I owe this feeling to the corporate culture of Bengaluru. But the atmosphere there is complete chilled out.

For the folks who do 2 years regular programme, there are 4 hostels – 2 for men and 2 for women. 1 men & 1 women for the 1st year students and 1 men & 1 women for the 2nd year students.

Junior men’s hostel (the hostel was being renovated as well as broadband connection was being added to all the rooms). The campus has wi fi zones though.

The right portion in the picture above is the mess.

As I stayed in the junior men’s hostel, here are the pictures how it looks from inside…

Some student colleagues were disciplined enough to wake up early and study

In the picture below, the left portion is senior women’s hostel, and the center one is the senior men’s hostel.

The students who pursue a one year full time GMP course are provided with a residence where they can stay with their families.
XLRI Jamshedpur - A PhotoBlog-dscn4191.jpg

XLRI also offers very short term (5 days or less) Management Development programmes. The MDP residence
XLRI Jamshedpur - A PhotoBlog-dscn4292.jpg

The MDP residence was also offered to any student who can shell out 800 bucks per day for a bed. It is air conditioned and has attached toilets.

Each room has two beds.

Good one, akbaree. It brings back the memory of me attending the similar classes around 3 years back in ASCI, Hyderabad. The campus is almost similar to the above in pics. Unfortuanately, I did not take the camera there.
