I covered Krishnagiri to Salem in 1Hr. 10 minutes!
Apart from the morons who pop-up in the fast lane staring at you, the road is amazing!

Lovely pics, Nazim! I loved the one of the pink rose---could almost smell it!!!

The highways look mighty tempting. How far is Yercaud from Hyderabad, and how about an update on the roads?

The distance from Hyderabad to Yercaud is approximately 800 KMs.

As for the road conditions,
Hyderabad - Kurnool - Very good!
Kurnool to Anantapur on NH7 is still under construction and with lots of diversions. (There are few railway crossings too)
Chickbellapur to BIAL is also under construction and is horrible!
Bangalore to Hosur - I cannot call it a road as the Elevated highway to Electronics city is still going on. Some bottlenecks like Attibelle, etc are seeing flyover construction.
Hosur to few KMs before Salem - Wonderful, curvy road. I covered Krishnagiri to Salem which is approx 110 KMs in 1 Hr 10 minutes.

My folks had taken a train to Salem from Bangalore (after dumping the luggage in the rocket) and around 12:45 PM they call me and say that they are 15 minutes away from Salem and I inform them I am still in Krishnagiri buying Mangoes!
At 1:30 PM, they say that they are in a resaurant and just ordered Lunch. I ask them to order for me & my cousins too who were in the rocket and at 2:10 PM, I am inside the restaurant having lunch with them!

This is how good this Highway is! The speedo was always between 110 -140.

LOL that must have been something. They must have been zapped at you being there in time for lunch. Love the pithy way you brought the story out, that style coupled with the poetic quality of your pics is to my mind a hit formula! (loved the "unknows roads" series and "this one makes me dizzy")

Cheers,

Nice stuff Nazim. I agree that the road from Krishnagiri to Salem is quite good and I think we should thank Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee for giving us the amazing 4-lane GQ.

Nazim, love the last picture man. Maybe we should initiate the Photographer of the month award.

I loved the roads after Blore, although a little crowded till Hosur. After the second toll plaza (don't remember where. Few kms before the turn-off for Thoppur) there is a section with a million humps while going, and none while coming back. That was a pain. Else the highway is super smooth.

EDIT: Did you use a tripod for that pic? Serious photographers swear by it.

He just kept the camera on the wall and set the 30-sec exposure.

Nazim, fabulous picture and really worth the wait. I never tried these long exposure pictures. Let me give it a shot whenever i get the next chance.

Quick to put a copyright to the picture huh? Glad you did it before i stole this picture and claimed as mine
