Day 12 – 3rd December Mysore – Honavar - 440 Kms

We left for Mysore after having breakfast and had decided to stop for lunch at Jog falls for lunch. As we went along the target seemed unachievable and hence we had to stop for lunch before Jog. The roads in this section were real bad and hence we got delayed. There was a 10 km stretch where the road did not exist at all, it was only stones and no signs of any work happening there.

Jog falls was another disappointment since there was hardly any water. Though we were told not to expect much but since it was Jog Falls we were optimistic and were hoping to see more than what we saw.

This leg had the longest and boring ghat section we had encountered in the entire trip. We were delayed due to the never ending bad roads and it had started getting dark already. We reached Honavar and decided to stop there for the night in spite of considering to drive till Goa on the same day. The bad roads were very frustrating and had forced us to stop.

Day 13 – 4th December Honavar – Goa – 170 Kms

This was going to be a short drive after which we were going to be joined by 2 more of our very close friends in Goa. On the way to Palolem we decided to peep into Om beach which was not way off the track.

Om beach is away from the main road in Gokarna and not commercial at all. A really beautiful, clean blue water beach actually in OM shape.

We then moved on to Palolem which is in south Goa where we had decide to spend the next few days. Waiting for the our friends to arrive Varun and I closed our settled our trip expense account as this was the end of our road trip with only 2 of us onboard. From now on it was going to be all 4 of us till Mumbai.

Day 14, 15 – Goa

Beaches, babes, bikinis…and….us BOYS. It was a well deserved break for us from all the driving, travelling, sight seeing etc,. This was the time to chill AND chill is what we did. Joined by Rahul & Mihir, we “checked in” 2 shacks right on the beach – we were right on the beach once we opened the door of the shack !

Palolem was a blur of activity, or should I say inactivity. It was marked by
1. Hogging – 3 meals a day equivalent to atleast 5 meals – lots of cheese !! Breakfast at 11, lunch at 3, dinner at 11
2. Walking all over the beach, even up a small hill, where we enjoyed chillers sitting near a small water inlet & then played in the water
3. Frisbee !! lots and lots of Frisbee… late into the night till 3 in the morning.
4. Chilling – sitting, talking…..you know what I wanna add…
5. Party till sunrise..

The highlights of GOA were

1. Water sports at baga beach – para sailing, water scooters – simply awesome !
2. Babes – we saw stunning chicks from all over the globe, befriended a few n got talking and....
3. Throwball – a multicultural throwball game which ended with the losing team stripping COMPLETELY

We visited Chapora – DCH fort and clicked snaps exactly like in DCH shot – this snap would be a permanent memory for the 4 of us, im sure.

Day 16 - 7th December Goa – Mumbai – 600 Kms

After visiting the DCH fort we headed straight for Mumbai. It was around 2 in the after noon and we decided to take the NH 4 after a lot of debating.

Roads were bad and hence we could reach Kolhapur only at 7 pm. We stopped at the Kolhapur Mc D’s for dinner and did a nonstop fast run to Mumbai at 8 pm. Having exited the expressway at 12 pm sharp we decided to have a mid-night snack at Amar Juice Centre.

After 17 long days it did feel nice to be back in Mumbai but at the same time we were missing the crazy time we had over these days touring the entre southern triangle of India.

It is indeed the Matri Mandir, but the location is Auroville, about 8 KM outside the city. Aurobindo Ashram is located inside Pondicherry itself.
