Then we tried to go to the Rani falls. But was denied entry. Seems it was colsed and gaurded due to heavy rains. So, went to the Power station. The power station is just behind the Parking lot. Best way is to walk from parking lot and have fun and view.

Some pics from power station

Then we headed back to hotel. Got couple of delicious Pineapple on the way back.

Mjothi - Your Aveo also has MJ in its reg. Coincidence? I am keenly watching it these days

Jog still does not look like the one ak-47 and lukeskywalker posted. Don't know how much of rain it requires for that glory.

Very good report, I love JOG in heavy rains. When our 20 months old daughter in 2006 saw this place first time she got thrilled by scenary there and told in big voice Wa Wa Wa! in Majestic style.

Nearly 1 lac. quesecs water needed to repeat heavy flooding and my gut feeling is If heavy rain continue for 2 weeks in 1 month from now reservoir will become full. Also remember power generation is in full swing. So final 20 feet takes sometime to get filled in linganamakki dam unless it rains heavily. It has small upstream and downstream dams, so this is reason why they can store huge quantity of water there for power generation.

Thanks to Sir. M. Vishweshwarayya who realized "what a great a loss" when he first sighted JOG and immediatly built reservoir with amazing plans.

Regards,

Ravi.

Hey MAnna and Srini, Just read the full travelogue and saw the pics.
Well written as always. I missed the trip by a whisker I guess.

Jog was indeed in full glory. This was the best of the time to visit Jog and you utilized full time I must say.

Thanks Guys.

We heard from the old person in the hotel that it would be too good to see it in first or second week of August. Seems it has to stop rain and only then it will look awesome to view those falls.

So, anyone planning to go, please plan it for the above period. Ofcourse, keep following the other thread on conditions of jog. Our "Shimoga" reporter is in here and will update it constantly.

You got him?

@ashish, akbaree, perez, bombat, akroy, muralisk & others: Thanks for compliments. As mj has said you need to visit this place during Aug 2nd-3rd week, you will experience more fantastic view as the rains would have susided by that time and there will be only water falls. This is told by a native person of Sagar town.
