Thanks for the compliment. We were lucky to view this valley, We started to this view point and could see nothing. When we decided to come back suddenly there was a wind cleared almost all the Mist and we could get these.

Sorry for not posting the actual Travelogue !! Here it is

Initially we thought of driving to this destination and since we have two kids in the team (my son and my friends daughter) we have decided to go by a Taxi, Hired a Qualis from Bangalore and started in the morning by 6:00 AM,

Drive through the Sarjapur, Hosur Road and stopped in A2B In Chinnar ( you find this in Hosur road, the one attached with Bharat Petroleum) for Breakfast

It took more than a hour to get the orders delivered since it is a Self Service division (They make good food - but still they should make the service better)

Started the journey by 8:40 AM after breakfast and with few stops to feed the kids we finally reached the poor man's ooty (yercaud is called so)

As the weekend was pretty rainy in all other nearby weekend gateway we could see lot of Bangaloreians cars destined to Yercaud

Luckily the weater was amazing and we could do a lot of photography and also chilling.

Note : Please find the hotels online and book it prior your trip, We found it little difficult to find the accommodation as it was crowded there even though it was a off Season.

Tip : You may not get the phone numbers of the hotels in the internet, I took a small advantage of the technology and tried this way.

1. accessed directory services in bsnl.in
2. Selected Salem district
3. Search key word (1)Hotel (2) resorts
4. Got all the BSNL numbers published in the directory
5. Called few guys to find the accommodation.

As all the famous hotels (like Shevaroys, MM, Hotel Tamil Nadu) were having no accommodation for that weekend we tried our luck by going there.

We got a neat accommodation in a place called unique resorts 200m before hotel Tamil Nadu there is a left deviation which can take you to this place and there is a hoarding also.

Though it was quite a okay kind of stay we could not enjoy good food there.

First day we went to Shevaroy's Red Dragaon Chinese restaurant which was quite a good food with long waiting.

Next day we decided to have food at salem and hence munched some snacks (this will help against the puking temptation) and drove near Salem New bus stand to have food in Saravana Bhavan (the one behind KPN Travels office).

We had a good food and started back to Bangalore around 6 PM and reached home by 11:30

Overall Experience : Chilling Weekend
Food quality : Is good in selected places if you have patience
City : It is a very small town with few view points like

Lady's Seat : Valley View point
Rose Garden & Child seat : Rose garden and View point to city
Pakoda point : Another view point to the city

I don't prefer to pen each and every moment which will not help the readers and hence,

Closing this travelogue

Yercaud is indeed a amazing place. I visit there at least once a year and stay there for a minimum of 4-5 days!

Cool pics, literally. I thought it would be best to visit in the scorching summers. Your pictures tempt me to visit next summer. Thanks for sharing.

Road... Not even a pot hole until 40 kms of your reach if you are driving from Bangalore / Chennai. The only thing you need to be careful is the Humps in Thoppur forest area (after the following Toll gate)

Hi, a nice and crisp travelogue and good snaps!

I would be going to Yercaud next weekend (8-9 Aug). Wanted to know few things about the weather there now:
- Is it raining all the time?
- Are the evenings very chilly or mild?
- Any good food joints in that area?

Thanks.

This is monsoon season, Please use the following link for prediction

It seems Saturday the weather is good and sunday 50% of chance to rain

ref : YERCAUD Weather, Yercaud Weather Forecast, Temperature, Festivals, Best Season

- Are the evenings very chilly or mild?
As i could see you are in bangalore you may not find it very chill, Still carrying a blanket is a better idea
- Any good food joints in that area?
As i mentioned in my travelogue ---- If you have patience go to Shevaroys, Food was nice just you need to keep pushing them to serve it

Thanks.
Bon Voyage !!
