Great Travelogue as always Laluks. The greenery certainly is soothing for the eyes. Any leech encounters???

Thanks for your reply. Just to add is this the shortest route from Madikeri to Virajpet?

@laluks: March April is the time when all estates turn into white sheets of cloud, smelling sweeter than the sweetest perfume: That' when coffee is in full bloom.

I can imagine how heavenly it would be. That one flower made me go so emotional with its smell, then how would it be when an entire place is filled with that.

It is a must do for me now to visit a coffee plantation when in full bloom

This reminds me of my trip to Coorg, the Tibetan monastery and talecauvery. It was September and it was ethereal as it was cloudy, green, rivers full ..but little rain. Many of the snaps posted (including the ghost tree!) are in my albums too! I did not stay at Madikere but preferred to stay at the Tata Coffee bungalows available thro their company 'Plantation Trails'. the bungalow we stayed at Chikmagalur was even better and the ride on the road to Baba Budan giri hills was thro fog..it was a great trip.

Day 4, August 31st, 2009 continued.

We then drove to Nagarahole. Once we entered the National park, we were shocked to find a tree uprooted and blocking the road. Waited till the forest guys cleared it on a side.

We and reached the Safari entrance by 2.45PM.
This board will help you guys to find the orientation of our trip till now.

Swifted : Coorg-n2.jpg

Safari is available between 6-8 in the morning and 3-5.30 in the evening. Rs95/- per head. The safari is a bone jarring ride on a minibus for 1 hour. Animals by the sound of this vehicle will have already vanished and sightings are very rare except for the usual deers and monkeys. We could spot a Sambar! Here are the pictures from the park.

After the Safari I wanted to go to the kabini side, but was unsure whether we could do it before 6PM. The forest roads have a strict closure timing from 6PM - 6AM. Did not want to take the risk. So continued back to Bangalore from there. After a while we could see the missing Tourism boards come back to existence.

We started from Nagarahole around 5PM. We reached KRS fork around 6.30 and reached Bangalore by 8.45PM. Had home made dinner and retired for the day.

The End

With this I conclude the current trip details.

One interesting thing I failed to mention was the availability of Momos in the resort. Probably because of the Tibetan settlement the dish is known in this part and is offered.

I'll fetch some interesting pictures from my previous two Coorg trips and post here later.

I am already late on packing up for my next trip Keep guessing...
