Bandipur is a continuation of the Nagarhole range. Nagarhole is flanked by Bramhagiri range, the Muthanga Wildlife sanctuary in Kerala and Bandipur. Bandipur continues onto the Sathyamangalam range, from there to the BR Hills and then onto Kollegal and Kanakpura.

I think you can drive through in the Kabini area. A friend of mine had been there with his friends a couple of months ago.

Lalus ur a great scribe . I enjoyed reading it ..As im from the place u visited. I read it with every detail . Day three u reached virajpet via siddapur . I was thinkin why u had to go all around to reach there when you have a straight road through Murnad .
However i realized later that the route through which you have moved is one of the best roads to cover with lush green estates of tata coffee & total greenary ..Its a nature lover's delight.
I wish you a great time ahead too

The next travel logs can be read here

Agra, Mathura and Vrindavan

Himalayan Drive

It seems that the log is "taken over" and the tones changed. On date, another 13 more days have to be updated as seen through my eyes.

Had a chance to get back to Nagarahole to attend the Bangalore Team-BHP meet. Was a two day affair. We stayed at the Jungle Inn, just before the entry to Nagarahole forest. This time I have taken my Civic instead of my Swift.

The Trip

27.03.2010 - 28.03.2010

Bangalore - Mysore - Hunsur - Nagarahole - Hegdekotte - Kabini - Hunsur - Nagarahole - Mysore - Bangalore.

Total of around 700Km.

We started our journey by 06:00AM to Nagarahole.

Civic all set. Climate control at 25 degrees, full tank, all 6 CDs popped in, trip meter set.

Watch the ODO, nice number
Swifted : Coorg-picture-003.jpg

Since we were meeting many others enroute, we were doing a very leisurely drive. Target was to reach the resort by noon for lunch.

Civic at the short cut turn to Hunsur road from Srirangapatna.

Another venture similar to CCD??

We reached the resort by 12:30PM and had a heavy lunch. The resort is nothing great, a basic getaway with bland food. The costs are something like 2000 per head, but since we were a part of a large group for the meet, there was some heavy discounts.

Civic parked while we had lunch.

After lunch we got into the Nagarahole forest road for a drive. We saw the normal set of animals around.

The forest was kind of dry due to summer and the urge to drive to Kabini was strong. Exited Nagarahole forest through Heggadekotte and continued on to Kabini. Reached Kabini reservoir by 18:30. Spend some nice time at the water body. The weather was pleasant, and it drizzled too along with heavenly cool breeze.

This is the route taken for this trip.
Swifted : Coorg-fullscreen-capture-07042010-231408.bmp.jpg

In the last trip, the return from Coorg was via Iruppu falls and through Nagarahole forest. This time Kabini was looked at. Kabini needs a trip of its own. Hopefully one day will get to do that.
