Aru II

When we started climbing up the mountain, we had no idea what was up there. Thankfully only one or 2 "guides" came to pester us, and left soon.
The views were awesome, as you can see

Down below is the village and JKTDC

On the way up we asked a sheperd boy about whats up. He said "there is a meadow", and then asked for money!

Talk about enterprise.
But he was not going to get money to tell us there is a meadow up there
And a meadow it was, with cows grass and mountains, and sun

My feeble attempt of shooting at the sun

Without the sun

though the light was harsh, I went clicking anyways...

And thats me

Meadow done, we started walking down again, to the river

For "vehicle addicts" like us, hiking was a tough exercise. but walking is always good for the back you see.

Soon at 5:30pm we were at the river
Some shots of the clean mountain stream. We eve heard lots of ruckus in the bushes way above. Later we were told its the bears. Scary place to spend the night.
apparently bears come down to JKTDC looking for food, so unless you want to be dinner, its not safe to venture out at night

anyways the river

Somehow, from the LCD screen I knew I was not doing justice. Time for a long exposure with tripod time, and ND filter.

Going through the travelogue feels like invading & conquering Mordor, enjoying the spoils of war in Gondor and finally heading to the Shire through the Fangorn forest.

The last night in Paradise

Since the sun was going down, we started going towards the car. Today was our last day. Tomorrow we will begin the journey home, with no stops in between

Some pics on the way. I do not have an Graduated ND filter, so this is the best I could get

We reached pahalgam little after sundown. It was just time to eat and chillout.
I did some night shots too, but due to lack of good scenery view from our hotel, it did not really work out

The last shots of the trip

It was time to pack the camera, do some calculations etc., and relive the last 20 days mentally.

Tomorrow we will be in Punjab, and it will be the end of our journey!

Good night and Good bye Kashmir

The journey back home

Well this was a day of no photography, just following lots of Army and CRPF convoys.
The army convoys were easy, they give you way. But police is same everywhere. The buses would race with you, and generally try to push you off the road.

NEar the tunnel lots of Tempo traveller taxis generally made driving a miserable experience.
Thankfully, we took the Udhampur byapass
Had lousy lunch over there too!.
Only funny thing, at Kashmir border we were charged 70 rs "exit toll"

Kind of hotel california, you can check out any time you like, but you gotta pay tax to leave. This is the only time a state has charged for exiting as well as entering!

We fuelled in Pathankot at around 8pm, and FE from Sringar-Pahalgam-Pathankot run was a staggering 11.56

Well so far so good.

It was a long long drive, without any pics, just endless driving and dodging taxis and convoys

All good things come to and end.
What started off with a bang, ended with a whimper :(

Want to do it again, as soon as possible. Hopefully spiti will happen next year.

So long folks... And thanks for your eyeballs.

................. THE END...............

Well I wish companies gave 3 weeks leave every year
Ladakh is a place you go again and again too.

Thankfully there are few of the travelogues still going on to enjoy!

I was waiting till the end to comment on your log.
Amazing photographs and narration. I was quite happy to see the pictures from Hanley and kashmir, which we could not do in our trip.

Yes, like you said there is definitely a next time. The place attracts you strangely.

Good work.
