TSK would you please let me know the details of the camera you used with its specs and the COST. I think that should be the first one I buy before I prepare for the trip.

I use a Canon 350D. The pics in this log are with 18-55 kit lens.
In the 2010 log, I used a Panasonic FZ-35 and a Tamron 10-24 Lens.
350D from Canon is an old model. The current equivalent model is the Canon 550D.
Canon has launched a XXXD series and have a camera called the 1000D
Head over to DSLR thread for your queries regarding cameras

Voila If Nature would have had eyes, she realize what her worth in this world. great pics. I didnt even read your postings much. Your photos were self explainatory.

A hug from my side for those lovely pictures.
I hope I am repeating the question again please bear with me

Have you witnessed any low model (90 or 93) 800 enroute to Leh?

Entire himachal villages, with roads worse than the roads in leh, have 800 as their primary car. With development, now Alto is taking over.
Do not worry, right now an 800 is among the best cars to do Manali Leh highway, and I have seen a few Alto's doing the same.
In Leh, and Kargil area I have seen quite a few M800s.

The short wheelbase and narrow track make it easy to avoid tricky obstacles. The low weight means that she will cross where sumos and qualis get stuck.
Just make sure your tires are in top condition, and vehicle is mechanically sound.

If you can manage 3 weeks(15 working days) leave, and do delhi to your place up down in 7 days, you can do this trip.
No need for 30 days.
You can do nubra - pangong - tso moriri only, and return!

Why?
How is HR concerned - it has to be the business unit/project decision...

Anandh, I am a Branch Manager and they say that I cant be out of branch for 30 long days....

I think this the high time to start my own business... or else I would never have place for my dreams. This dream trip to leh / shimla is been there in me for the past 10 years and my profession never allowed me.

Well if they are citing something procedural but your reporting manager is OK apply for 29 or 28 days :-)

Amit, I will try again this week. Boss is always a boss... I dont know where my request is stuck whether its with my boss or with the HR.

Anyhow I have come to a conclusion that if they wont allow 30 days leave then I will have to look out for a new job. I wont get compromised with my dream.

Great stuff there Tanvir. 36 Pages of pure bliss!! So want to do this stretch.

I see this developing as a great tourist destination, I sincerely hope it is not spoiled like our other run-of-the-mill hill stations.

Tso Moriri,Tso Kar, Kyun Tso still seem to be off the 'tourist' radar! Hope it stays that way! By the way, are Tso Moriri and Tso Kar approachable from Hanle as well as Leh? The bigger question, can you take your vehicle right upto the lake? Like in case of Pangong?

Totally missed this post
Yes, You can approach Tso Moriri via chumur from Hanle side.
If you look at my 2010 T.log you will see that we came back to this region, and finished the unfinished business of Kyun Tso. Probably on the next trip, we will also do chumur side from Hanle.
At Pangong, you can take your vehicle right up to the lake. We always did so. A 2WD followed us and they had to be towed out by us, video in the 2010 Travelogue!
