A one day trip from Pune – Pirangut – Lavasa – Pirangut – Pune - STOP

Apologies: No helmets, I know that's bad, sorry for that!!

It’s a 140 kms single day weekend round trip...

The time of the Friday night party was gone .It was a late Saturday evening around 10:30 types. A thought clicked in the knees (brains), how about a ride to Lavasa early morning .Well the reply from the knees was affirmative, then started the process of getting in others to join... A few phone calls with hearing those typical whisky /rum lines "Bhai tujhey hee phone lagane wala tha " , " Bhai tu mera bhai hai " , " Bhai aa ja jaldee , tere liye wait ho raha hai ,ek khamba lete aana ,baithtey hai aaram se ". After all it was just a Saturday night .

Finally the enthusiasts said why not... Let's GO!!
Decided 6:00 AM ride in the morning

Morning 5:45 AM:
Alarm rang for me ,wakeup time J

Morning 6:00 AM:
Calling up the lazy techie folks.

Morning 6:30 AM:
Bikes started, for the drive.

Morning 7:00 AM:

We were at the start of the Paud Road. This had to be the first of the pit stops in the ride for the morning tea. Usually the Bed Tea .Everybody had tea / Ciggie with some fresh hot onion pakodas, and it was time to make a move. Started cruising at the speeds of 35-40 kmph. This was to ensure we didn’t miss anything from the photo shoot perspective (PICS).

It was a slight drizzling when we started from the Paud road, and continued as we headed towards the destination.

The run continued and we came at the intersection where the straight goes to Mulshi , we had to take a left for Lavasa .We exactly did that , the left a few odd kms and with the industrial areas passing by the change in the climate could be felt... it was noticeable and for good. There was a start of a fog cover all around the lean patches of land that were covered with fresh green grass on the side of the roads , due to heavy rains in the catchment areas for a couple of days

The run was almost as if we were dragging our bikes .We covered the distance of 60 odd kms in 3 hrs with almost 300 odd pics taken for fellow members. Again thinking on the sharing perspective. The whether was cold comparative to Pune. It was again a pit stop ,as they say it .

There dam was sighted with the splashing water that is forced to release through the turbines directly into the channel .The pressure, force of the water being released from turbine was simply. Mind-blowing ,through the narrow escape channel .Again the pleasant weather..forced on the lung pedal for a ciggie and we listened to the inner voice and the ciggies lightened up . We sat some time out there to rest our selves in peace with the water droplets pouring as if directly coming from a fountain .The run continued .

Morning 9:45 AM

Negotiating the run , the turns went by, the curves kept coming. The beautiful valley was covered with light fog ,it kept raining rather should say smooth drizzling . The nature was at its glory and we had to capture the details ,at least the attempt was being made in the " SAGAR " of photography . We finally reached the Top of the mountain where the gate of the Lavasa is situated. We could see it at a handful of a distance , again to the agony spotted a " Chai Tapreee " first ,had to stop. Was the Tea time ,stopped then and there , Chai was ordered .

Then came the "Chai" with lots of water in it, guess the " Bhains /Cow " were unable to climb through the mountains to reach the tapreee , managed to sip somehow ,with proper levels of nicotine going in .

Headed off towards the main entrance and were at the Lavasa main entrance continued capturing and off we went road by road on descents and ascents finally reaching the bottom of the valley.

Pics to let you enjoy the rest of the story.

Morning 12:30 PM

Time to wrap up the photo shoot for the day, back packed ourselves ,headed back the same route to Pune ,a hour of drive and we were back .

Have Fun!
Enjoy Travelling!

1] you need not go upto pirangut for that diversion toward lawasa.
at the start of pirangut ghat from pune side, there is left turn, that road links to the pirangut-lawasa road.
2] the dam is temghar dam and there are no turbines, no gates. the dam is incomplete due to objection from forest department. the splashing water you saw may be from channel gate.
3] the tapri is still there? i had hot pakodas at that tapri. the tapri infact is 1-2 km before lawasa gate.

Set 4 of the Photo Log !!

The shoot coninues, Set 5 !!

Pardon my Ignorance stupid:

Yes the Tapree exists , 1-2 kms I really doubt it is just a curve before the Lavasa gate !!

@jealousdiamond: If you are planning to post more pics then I would advise to you to please shortlist your pictures before further posting & also correct their orientation as we see a lot of repetitive pics & pics with incorrect orientation. Some pics have little or no relevance in the overall scheme of things. Thanks

Very nice photo blog, JD

Aaahhh!! Pune after the rains. Beautiful sight. Thanks for sharing. The last set is the best amongst the lot. There is also a rusted bike in the photgraphs. Whats with that?
Looks like someone got down for a pee break and never returned back. And its been there since.
