Vagamon displayed all seasons in India - except snow, in the 1.5 days we were there. It was a truly fantastic experience watching the weather change from extremely foggy, to drenching rain, to sunshine and back, in the space of a few meters/minutes. |
seems like a spooky place. nice pix though mate. nice to see a tourist spot which has no crowd.
Nice one... passed through there when I was in school, did not really do justice to the place.
Nice pics as usual... Mag you have also got some great exposures, are those straight out of the cam or your photoshop skills are el33t?
s0uljah,
My PS skills are very limited. These pics were out of the camera and some HDR/minor corrections.
Just read these post to post (or rather viewed it post to post !)
Amazing Snaps ! I only have questions, for the long distances you guys cover.
Do you really stop for these snaps en-route? And in spite of that you guys reach destination in time !
But boy-o-boy the snaps actually speak in silence with all their words ! The snake episode is scary !
May be MX would like to pay a visit?
Very nice. Also I have not seen many Vagamon TLs. Any specific reasons?

No idea why is that we don't have too many travelogues here on Vagamon.Could be the distance, am just guessing though. However there was a tbhp meet some time back in Vagamon.
Incredibly beautiful place! And I'm ashamed of myself that I had never heard of VAGAMON in my life.
But snakes creep me out. I will be going for a resort whose roof is made out of concrete ;)

Well pal, our cottage itself was at a good distance from the gate and the restaurant. There was a cliff about 50 mtrs from our cottage and there is less you can do to actually keep away snakes.
Methinks we were staying at the highest point in the property and I could only see one towering mountain from our abode.
By 4pm the whole place would get dark because of the clouds and driving through the thick canopy to the cottage was creepy by itself.
Does Vagamon look like this all the time? Or only during/after monsoons?

Maybe the summers are a bit different and could be dry, but am sure the Winters and the rainy seasons will be the same.
OT :
Surprising that you have done 1,00,000kms on the Indian Highways (read
here) and you haven't yet touched Vagamon ?
I remember those intimate sessions with the innumerable leeches.
I'll remember this trip for another reason - it was a HDR paradise !
Boy. How did I miss out on this earlier? And sad to know they killed the snake. Snakes bring the balance to ecology. They are the most mis-understood creatures on earth.
Vagamon.
Now I have started calling the TBHP TL section as TL archives.
You go 10-20 pages beyond and you will see amazing stories coming out !

That's not surprising - what's surprising is neither me or my travel buddies have even
heard about this place. We all hang our heads in shame.
Of course, nothing is lost - we will definitely make amends ;)
Munnar is hardly a few centimetres from Vagamon (the way I see it in Google Maps) - so this area should be ideal for a one week trip.

Dig out some more if you find good ones!
Here's another HDR from that trip. This one is currently the desktop wallpaper on my home server.
