Day 3, 19th October 2009 Continued.

Halebid




This guy was busy eating his nut, undisturbed by the crowd around

The temple has a large garden, and is on the banks of a river.

We finished with Halebidu by 17:30PM. Had a 15 minute tea break and started back to Bangalore by 17:45PM

Day 3, 19th October 2009 Continued.

Halebid - Belur - Hassan - Nelamangala - NICE- Bannarghatta Road - Marthahalli.


We started from Halebid by 17:45PM to Bangalore. See the log.

Time -- KM -- Place/Remark
17:45 000.0 Halebid
18:00 018.0 Belur
19:00 082.0 Kamat near Channarayapatna, Dinner
19:50 082.0 Start after Dinner
21:50 210.0 Nelamangala
22:05 224.0 NICE Toll Gate
22:25 254.0 NICE exit at Bannargatta Road
22:55 280.0 Home, Marthahalli Outer Ring Road.

I did not want to drive through Hebbal outer ring road with all the truck and airport traffic. Hence gambled an exit at Bannargatta road via NICE. Though the distance was more, we reached home faster.

Thus we reached Marthahalli from Halebid in 4hours 20 minutes of driving time, comfortably, averaging 65Km/Hr.

Statistics for the day.
Start 08:45AM
Stop 22:55PM
Kilometers - 401Kms.



Statistics for the full trip
Start 04:30AM 17/10/2009
Stop 22:55PM 19/10/2009
Kilometers - 1050Kms.
Fuel Consumed - 82.25 litres
FE - 12.77Km/litre.
Highest Speed - 160km/hr on NICE road on return journey.
(Swift Zxi is very stable at these speeds. Personally I have pushed swift to 180+ Kmph on the L&T coimbatore highway, the roads ran out, swift had still power left at 180kmph. Both these roads, NICE and L&T, have a long visibility range, hence these tests. I LOVE THIS CAR.)

Wow, I never considered swift is made for rough terrain.
But this has changed my impression about Swift.

The confirmed one is to Ooty, to relive the memories and to use up the Club Mahindra Holidays.

Another one is getting cooked up now much to my interest. That'd be one I'll be looking forward to, though its a short one.

Sid, Swift is a very capable car. It can do rough terrains with grace, and on silky smooth roads, ste the tracks to fire. I simply love that car.

But not to rule out that you should be careful with whichever car you drive, and trust me the relationship will be too good. Remember - Gone in 60 Seconds and the hero's talks with the Mustang. It works

I very much agree with you on the talk part, before i start my journey i make sure i have a good/focused talk with my car, yea it certainly has worked with both of my cars! and the bikes too.

On the "capability" i guess most of the cars can take the beating. used to think OHC was a senstive until she proved that i was very wrong

Very true. My Civic also has stunned me sometimes in very bad situations, the way she handled was amazing. It was unlike the poor portrayal here in the forum - which I felt was mostly unfounded.

Your driving skill, relationship and care is key that is needed to make any car capable.

. Me and my Swift have been in a couple of offroad situations and both the times, my beauty has handled it well although she came out with a few rattles later on

I'm not happy with the stock tyres though. They're more like cycle tyres rather than car tyres

The Zxi tyres from JK, and the size is OK with me.
The VDi has a shade smaller tyre I guess.

Yes, by 20mm. Zxi has 185 and Vdi 165.

165?? That is ridiculously small. Hope vdi/vxi atleast gets a 14 incher?

Zxi is 185/70 R14 - to me it seems quite adequate.

Yes. The stock on VDi/LDi is 165/80 R14. I would be going for 185/70 R14 on the next change.
