On the way driving downhill

As I said before, I just have few photos left taken during the drive downhill on the way back to Bangalore.

Started the return journey from the hotel by 1:00PM, reached Salem by 2:45PM, had lunch break for about 45 minutes and started again. Reached Bangalore by 7:30PM amidst a break in Krishnagiri & some traffic in Electronic City. Total kilometers covered was 600 approximately. The approx mileage given by the car was 14km/lt. Per person, the trip expense came to Rs.1250, which I thought was very good.

I am uploading the pictures and hope you enjoy looking at them. Thank you for reading through this travelogue.

it is just too good to resist. I have exhausted all the places around bangalore which are driveable, now some ray of hope for couple of day outing. One more thing, does the place really look so serene as it appears in photoes. Either way am going to plan for this within next few weeks, thanks for the new found place.

Informative travelogue K149in. All details for the next time travellers are in. Kudos for that.
This place never featured in my "to visit places" for a quick break, but you have enlightened it.

nandans2005, drsk, Soumya Ramesh and Remu; thank you for reading through this travelogue.

@Soumya Ramesh: in my opinion, yes, this place was green, but certainly one should not expect this place to be as beautiful as Ooty, Kodaikanal. This place is like Nandi Hills. But the difference is, it has a good waterfalls, a magnificient view point and 70 hairpin bends to make a interesting drive.

We stayed at Nallathambi Resorts. The quality of the rooms was not good. They are undertaking some renovation work. But currently, this place is only suitable for bachelors. For families, you can check out the PA Resorts. We did visit this place but only after taking a room in Nalla Thambi. PA Resorts have 15 cottages and the rates are 1200/-, 1500/- and 2400/-. On 19th December we went to the following places

View Point
Lake (or a pond?)
Botanical Garden

On Dec 20th, we visited the water fall. It is 11.8 KMs from Nalla thambi resorts and were reached the place in 24 Mins. We need to descend approx 1000 steps to reach the water fall from the place we park the car but I must say that it is very much worth it. In fact this was the best part of our trip.

@Pramodpk, I am happy that the thread helped you.

Particularly I am glad that you were able to evaluate PA lodge which we couldnt do. Now we seem to have more options for staying in Kolli hills. The Kolli Hills resorts also needs to be checked for its suitability.

The amount of water flowing in the falls seems to be more than what we saw, possibly due to heavy rains in TN.

Please add more pictures!

@srikanthpotluri, thank you for your comments! I also wanted to tell you, your Punto car looked amazing!

ki149in, thanks for the lovely thread. Fairly new here so missed this entirely.

You've just helped me get back loving memories of mine from childhood. I come from a village that is in the foothills of Kolli. I remember doing a trekking up these hills once and also enjoying those amazing hairpin bends on a car as kid.
This is probably one of the few places that is still untouched and its great that you have it listed in this place.

Cheers!

We checked with locals about the accommodation options
available in Kolli Hills and personally checked out some
of them. Here are the options.
1. PA Resorts/Holiday Inn - We went to this place and
spoke to the owner. It has 15 cottages named after
hill stations (simla, Darjeeling etc). Rates Rs. 1200/-,
Rs. 1600/-, Rs. 2400/-. I think this is the one that
you are referring to as 'Kolli Hills Resorts'.
2. PA Lodge - This is also owned by the same person who
owns PA resorts. According to him, this is low cost
accommodation mostly suited for drivers.
3. Nalla thambi Resorts - There are 2, 3 and 4 bed rooms.
Rate - Rs 420/-, Rs 600/- and Rs 720/-. The 4 bed one
has 2 bed rooms.
4. Some Mansion (Forgot the name). We checked this. Rate
Rs 450/- for a 3 bed room. Room was old. No parking space.
5. Govt Guest House - Did not check this out.
