Still a long way from completion? Do you think they will commission the 4-lane road this year?

Yes it seems there is a long way for the completion of Trichy Dindigul Road. But if we see nicely it is not impossible to complete. From Manapparai to Dindigul 50% is complete. If the do it regularly they can finish with in 12 to 18 months

Hi Road,

The plan for a drive is good. Really you can enjoy the drive. The roads upto Virudhunagar are very smooth except some work near Tindivanam. I enjoy the drive with the family quite often. If it is of 4 members our average cost comes around the bus fare of a omni bus. The average includes the toll too. The toll upto Tirumangalam through new road is Rs.273. Wish you an adavnce safe drive.

Can you please post the cost break up for the entire journey (Chennai-Madurai-Chennai). I would like to know the total cost involved in the journey such as fuel costs, toll costs etc.

This was the toll I paid from Madurai to Chennai early this year.
Kodai rd 37
Thirumandurai 35
Ulundurpet 51
Sengurichi 35
Athur 20
Paranur 20

Total amount was 198. I'm surprised to see the hike in toll rates so soon. Can someone give a break up of current tolls between madurai and chennai? Or have the put up newer toll booths as well?

Anyway Joe, fuel cost depends on your mileage.

Re: Journey To Dindigul, Madurai And Rameswaram

Every body knows that there was trouble in southern districts of Tamilnadu. Yesterday also there was some stone throwing near Virudhunagar. How safe it is to travel by own car towards Dindigul Madurai Virudhunagar. Planning a trip next week.

Where is the destination? Is it these places themselves?
That can help choose the route.

EDIT:

Read the earlier post:

Re: Journey To Dindigul, Madurai And Rameswaram

The route I prefer is Villupuram,Trichy, Dindigul and the destination is Tirumangalam via Madurai from Dindigul. The worry is that there was problem in Paramakudi and I heard the aftermath effect is still there. That is the reason I am asking update.

Re: Journey To Dindigul, Madurai And Rameswaram

Here is the update of this road till Madurai. Just returned from Madurai by road in Ritz. The High way is fine till Trichy. From Trichy around 6 kms are very poor. After that it is a brand new silky road to Dindigul. Toll gate is under construction in Trichy - Dindigul Road. It may function in a couple of months. The service road to Dindigul is horrible due to the construction of flyover. Better take the collector office road to enter to town. The road to Madurai is good like Chennai Trichy road. The road towards Pazhani is bit damaged some places.
