AP to AP: In search of a white X-mas and found a street party!

We started with 7 people confirmed for the drive and several 'tentatives'. A few others who longed to join in could not due to other commitments.

As the time to start the adventure came closer, 3 of the 7 had to drop out due to unforseen circumstances.

We had orignally planned to leave Hyderabad early in the morning of 20th December but we decided to leave half a day early due to the shenanigans of the pro and anti - Telengana forces and the "High Command" adding to the confusion which threw up the prospects of bandhs, rasta rokos etc. which are the forte of our unemployed netas.

We are now more than half way through this magnificient journey and thought it appropriate to start this thread to record the amazing experiences we have had.

There has been speculation that we are having too much fun to start this thread. At the cost of repetition, my only answer to such accusations is:

If fun is freezing your **** off at temperatures that see a maximum of between +2 and -6 and the air is so thin that walking 20 feet leaves you short of breath - yes we had FUN.

If fun is trekking 3 km at 15000 feet carrying live chicken over your shoulder - we had FUN.

If fun is having your car scrape bottom in slush - we had it.

If fun is having your car suddenly spinning wheels, moving backwards and turning around like it was possessed - we had loads of it.

If fun is putting dhurries under the driving wheels to get traction and falling on your butt while doing it LOL we had that too!!!!

If fun is being in a town which is all lit up in preparation for a humongous street party to usher in the new year - we are experiencing it as this is being written.

For now we begin with the following pictures:

AP to AP: In search of a white X-mas and found a street party!-dsc_0346.jpg

So much luggage, so little space. How do we fit all of it in? Trust us, we did!

AP to AP: In search of a white X-mas and found a street party!-dsc_1066.jpg

The cockpit and beyond.

AP to AP: In search of a white X-mas and found a street party!-dsc_1123.jpg

The smooth.

AP to AP: In search of a white X-mas and found a street party!-dsc_1599.jpg

Now this was not caused by the smooth.

AP to AP: In search of a white X-mas and found a street party!-dsc_1639.jpg

Art appreciation on the highway. (Well part of it at least.)

AP to AP: In search of a white X-mas and found a street party!-p1040178.jpg

Where is the road?!

AP to AP: In search of a white X-mas and found a street party!-p1040217.jpg

Bits like this made her dirty.

AP to AP: In search of a white X-mas and found a street party!-p1040247.jpg

Bits like this made her jive.

AP to AP: In search of a white X-mas and found a street party!-p1040281.jpg

Popsicles?

AP to AP: In search of a white X-mas and found a street party!-p1040444.jpg

Two paths.

AP to AP: In search of a white X-mas and found a street party!-dsc_0128.jpg

These four fitted in too alongwith the baggage. L to R = Pulsar56, Ravveendrra, Ravveendrra Jr. and Absynthguzzler. a.k.a. the Tourers.

The only thing that could have made this drive/tour better was the presence of all those who could not make it.

This post is being written by all of us. We wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Very Interesting Visuals.

From Central India Deccan Pateau to some 1000 kms of Coastal, to Tropical to the Hilly confines, thats the Multiclimatic Zones that you guys have experienced.

AWESOME ... !

Hats of the foursome. Its sheer courage and determination to venture on a such a long trip on road across all weather conditions. And it has definitely paid off.

Guys, you would turn out to be inspiration to many others on this forum for sure.

Wishing you a safe drive back home, and a very Happy & Prosperous New Year.

Look forward to a session of stories in the first meet of 2010.

Cheers.

Yes, finally a travelouge in a Skoda, and that too to a desolate place like Arunachal Pradesh. Loving every moment of it. Superb pics, narration and flow. Keep it up. Glued to it.

This will go a long way in proving the mettle of Skoda on our roads and off roads.
