The kund is still there, but we didn't go to it this time - am told it's dried up.

Here's a sequence of shots of a Rajasthani dancer with upto 6 pots balanced on her head! The reaction from a few foreigners gathered around to watch, was interesting.
















And here's a sequence of tightrope walking, which to the Western eye was nothing short of magic!












There were so many beautiful things that attracted the shopper, it is definitely a struggle to control the buying urge!






For those not 'shoppingly' inclined, there was this dedicated play area too.




BTW, it was pretty hot that morning (over 32*C), and the kulfi-s were really tasty.

Tigers are the flavour of the season, and the Surajkund Fair cannot be far behind. The graphics on the gate made for an interesting visual treat as well as being open to interpretation.

Today we visited the 25th Surajkund Fair. Wasnt much crowded.
Few details
Theme - Andhra Pradesh.
Partner Country - Uzbekistan.
Best time to visit - Working days noon time. We reached there by 4 pm.
My observation stalls were lesser than previous year or the area has increased.
Lots of nick nack items to pick. Lots of handicraft items. Priced reasonable.

I was actually dragged against my wishes to accompany wife to the Surajkund Fair today. Was not liking it all. While driving was a breeze till the Manav Rachna Univ, after that a mile long jam greeted me. It took close to 1-1/2 hrs to reach the parking area from that point and after paying Rs.50/- for the parking ticket (a total rip-off) entered the Mela ground. Had left home at 2pm and entered the grounds at 4 pm. Would've reached neared to Jaipur in this time.

As Rajiv (rkbharat) had mentioned to me, it was a mess and choc-a-bloc. Two hours of following around the Missus did wonders to my legs & back.

She did not buy a thread. Amazing are the ways of woman. We had green coconut water (very refreshing), lousy Sambhar Vada at the Kerala South Indian Corner in the food court prepared & manned by Haryanvis and the oh so hot & delicious Jaleba of Gohana.
