Team-BHP - Yet another valparai trip to bore you!!

i had been to bhoothathaankettu, I had gone from Kothamangalam.. there is a dam there and heard abt elephants in the forests there. u start of when u see a temple and tack a track next to it, a nice jungle track has to be followed where trees might have fallen, and a stream with rocks is at the end of the track... a good place for hangout for a few hrs... we had a couple of beer bottles to enjoy the sunset and the orange sky. we returned when it was dark, thanks to nokia 1100 with the torch... this was way back 3 yrs... :D roads werent really bad :P as I remember. not sure abt the present situation.

Nope - did this route 3 days back. Perfect motorable condition. Pollachi to Valparai and upto Sholayar is excellent with fresh tar. Once inside KL border expect moderate road conditions. From Athirapally to Chalakudi is again excellent.

Is idamalayar nearby? Where is this bhoothathankettu? What is there?
Is chimmini dam nearby. Have any idea about the access roads?

Laluji - Bhoothathankettu is near Kothamangalam (around 55 kms from Cochin on Perumbavoor Munnar route). I did my engineering in Kothamangalam and used to frequent this place. There is a small irrigation dam at Bhoothathankettu with very dense forest around. You need to continue on the same route for around 40 kms to reach Edamalayar dam where the road ends. On route to Edamalayar from Bhoothathankettu there is a deviation to Kalady via Thundam -- Malayatoor (ex Popular rally route). Most of the time this road used to be blocked by forest quoting elephant trouble.
