Nice pics, Sri. The fog sure looks scary! Do you have fog lamps/extra lights? Waiting for the next set of pics and of course, the story!

The Fog sure looks pretty bad. How is it currently in Munnar? Has it started raining now?

Hey Chevy Lover,

I am answering on behalf of Sri.. Here is his car snap. He has a Fog lamps that come in stock.

SriSha's D'Log - Trip to Munnar & Thekkady-pal.jpg

I read your Pune - Kodai - Ooty logs ... that was too good read from me . Here is a question for you, Do you think these fog lamps will suffice the purpose, I know this will not be as effective as your four lamp projectors? They reason I am asking it is that I have a Swift with similar fog lamp, and I planning Munnar on June 3rd week. Can these Fog lamps be handy??

@ Sri Please share your experience on this as well

Hey Ranjith, thanks for the effort you put in!

I must say that white lamps are very ineffective in heavy fogs. I had a harrowing time near Gudalur when we went to Ooty last year. The white light tends to scatter a lot. So it is like having a white wall of light right in front of you. It won't penetrate the fog easily.

Here are two pics for you, to understand how it feels.

I was driving with my headlights on when these snaps were clicked! Do you see any effect?

Last year when we were in Munnar we did under-estimate the Fog. Our resort was in Chinnakanal which is 22 km away from Munnar on the NH49 towards Adimali.

We reached Munnar by 6 and then we realized that we had to go another 22km. Within 15 minutes, the fog was all over us and I was driving in zero visibility and roads were a bit steep. To say the least my Fusion's fog lamps were some what helpful, but not all that great. But yes compared to the normal head lamps, they did help very much.

Lesson Learnt:
1. Plan the full distance till the resort.
2. Plan it out in such a way that you dont need to use your fog lamps.

Every one cannot be CL, HVK! At least not me. I would rather avoid night driving, if I can help it.

Where did the pencil torch come from? Aren't you a bit over-exaggerating? Is it right to insult our car's headlights? I would say it is like two candles!!!

@Ampere, actually I love driving at night. There are less imbeciles to worry about! We saw so many two wheelers driving in Gudalur, in thick fog, without headlights!!! What would you call them???

I almost ran over one stupid biker who overtook a bus and came right in front of me. There are less number of these nitwits in the road at night!!

But in foggy conditions, it is a different story!

I totally agree CL. But yes, I have never tried it. Just shying away from it.
I guess we have had enough OTs (pertinent ones at that ).

Sri, do continue with TL waiting for more. Munnar cant just get over!

I agree with CL here. I love driving at nights. The fog what we saw at Munnar is in mid-afternoon, it would have been worse if the case was after 4:00 PM. However our eyes can penetrate alot better than those lights on any car

We rushed to the gate and were excited for what awaits. And the security guard asks for a camera ticket, we turnaround and look, no counter, he then points to the information center at right side. We quickly grab the tickets and enter the boat.

All the side seats are taken, we settle in the middle row. For our boat there is no upper deck as well. Anyways the boat starts soon after 5 mins and the cool breeze and greenery just kept us happy. Enjoy the pics -

Water looks beautiful and serene. A pristine ambiance, ruined only by the crowds.
