@Srikanth - What's that building with large steps? Is it a temple? Did you've a chance to visit any of the temples there? Pls share some pics if you did.

good work from KTDC to avoid anymore tragedy
Definitely; IMO, KL also has more civic sense than TN.

I think it's the lake palace hotel run by KTDC.

No way Srikanth 25K or is it 2.5K??? KTDC can never charge 25K for one night while Orange county, one of the finest multi star rated resort in the country, charges 14K per night; unless KTDC is built on gold & studded with diamonds.

I am not kidding - check out yourself Tariff, Lake Palace, Thekkady, Premium Heritage Jungle Lodge, KTDC, Kerala, India

And I can say its worth it. You can come out and stand at the edge of the palace and look around the Periyar lake, who knows what all wild-life you can watch sipping tea/coffee. Its altogether a different experience being inside a open sanctuary where you sight wildlife.

If I am right, KTDC has three properties in Thekkady - the super-expensive Lake Palace (mentioned above), the premium facility Aranya Nivas and then the budget facility Periyar House.

Srikanth can you give a quick review of Periyar House? It used to be a very good place long back (stayed there about 25 years back as a kid).

Gautam - None of the hotels at munnar will have A/C rooms, as far as i know. There are plenty of budget hotels available, but i dont have the names.

Its still is a good place as far as I am concerned. They have very good service which is very hard to get by. Go ahead and Enjoy!!!

we came back to Periyar House, happy, and got refreshed. Only thing left was having a nice dinner. Since we were waiting the staff have put some video of wildlife which was nice to watch.

Dinner was ready by 7:30 and we straight away hogged on it & rested.

Next day we drove happily back home taking all the memories with us.

Sorry Ranjith, with the excitement in us, we hardly took any snaps inside.

All the ones which I can post, I have posted. The boating ones are all inside Periyar Tiger Reserve.
